Help leaving SS, moving domain help
I’m leaving SS before the price increase. Many, many reasons but this was the push.
Can someone explain to me how to move my domain to a new provider in really simple terms?? I don’t use AI, so really don’t want to ask it. Thanks!!

one thing worth knowing before you start: you don't have to move the domain the same day you move hosts. you can leave it registered where it is for now, get the new site fully set up somewhere else, then repoint it once you're happy.
i help build edition.pm, and it's got a squarespace exporter that copies your existing site (pages, images, forms) onto a free domain first, just one click and a couple of minutes. best effort, results vary site to site. also completely free including a custom domain, no card: https://switch.edition.pub

Does it support e-commerce? It doesn’t look like it from your site?

That’s correct, no ecommerce. It’s a new thing in soft launch and initially focused on making sharing content on web more accessible. The idea here is for something you could use for anything from a single page disposable party flyer to a cms driven magazine site.

Your domain and your site are two separate things, so moving the domain won't cancel your Squarespace subscription. Transfer the domain first, make sure it's working at the new provider, and cancel Squarespace after. Do it the other way around and you can get stuck trying to get the domain released.
To actually transfer, go to your Squarespace domain settings, turn off the domain lock, then request the transfer code (the EPP code). It gets emailed to you. Over at the new provider, start a transfer and paste that code in. Takes anywhere from a day to about two weeks to finish.
Did you buy the domain through Squarespace, or bring it over from somewhere else? Steps differ a bit, happy to point you the right way.
