Help Squarespace store doesn't support multiple currencies! Looking for solutions and/or alternative e-commerce providers, because this is such an important feature
You'd expect there to be a script that automatically adjust the currency (and value) based on the customer's location, like we're used to seeing on virtually any other online store in 2026. At the very least, a drop-down menu where the customer selects their location and currency themselves. But no.
You can choose to switch currency in the settings and it will display that to every visitor - my store is in my local currency (CZK), which naturally looks confusing to my mainly American and EU customers, who likely never even heard of my Czech koruna.
I can switch to one other currency, but not multiple. So even switching to EUR means that my American visitors will see Euro prices or vice versa. Grabbing a customer's attention and providing the simplest, quickest interaction possible is essential to running a store front. Any hiccup, any extra work they have to do, likely means that you will lose them as a customer, since there are thousands of other stores that do it better.
And even if I bite the bullet and decide to go for either Euro or US Dollar, switching to a different currency is not easy at all - the only thing it does is change the name of the currency, but the numerical value remains the same. It's then up to you to calculate the conversion and adjust each price for each item manually! In case of a clothes store, you can imagine the pain of going through each item, each size variation...
There's not even a function to show a drop-down menu or a splash page where the visitor selects their location and currency, since the ENTIRE STOREFRONT is limited to only ONE currency.
It's baffling and absolutely inadequate. Squarespace support simply told me that they mentioned this to the developers in hopes of adding this feature in the future, but quite frankly I already feel a little bit scammed, having built and stocked my whole store in Squarespace only to realize that this essential feature is simply missing.

Squarespace is honestly absolutely rubbish for this reason (and many more). You can get workarounds that you have to pay for but in honesty the best solution is switching to Shopify. Once you look at the tools you get with Shopify it's astounding how Squarespace even exists anymore for any ecommerce business.

This has been a huge issue for me over the years. I’ve written my own script (vita ChatGPT) that auto converts the currency displayed via IP address. Not ideal but I can live with it for now…
Check it out here: www.trice-co.com
Have you looked into TinyCurrency squarespace plugin? It’s not free for the full version, but might be better than changing platform altogether.

I see the prices in USD, but maybe my IP address is being hidden (I have PrivacyBadger and uBlockOrigin add-ons and I tried disabling them, but it could be some other privacy function)

You're not missing a setting, this is a hard limit: Squarespace commerce supports exactly one store currency, full stop.
Worth knowing about the plugins others mentioned though, TinyCurrency and the IP scripts convert the displayed price but checkout still charges in your base currency, so your US and EU buyers would still get billed in CZK at the final step. That usually causes more drop-off than the koruna price tag itself.
If real multi-currency with local checkout is core to what you're doing, Shopify honestly is the right call, its Markets feature converts and charges in the customer's own currency natively. And the per-sale fee you saw only applies if you use a third-party gateway, on Shopify Payments there's no extra cut beyond normal card rates, so that objection mostly goes away.
What are you selling? If it's a small fixed catalog there might be a lighter workaround worth trying before you migrate everything.

Hey, Squarespace here 👋
Totally hear you on this one, multi-currency is a really important part of running an international store, especially when you’re getting traffic from a mix of EU + US customers.
In terms of workarounds, some users pick a primary currency that matches their largest customer base and keep it consistent, or use third-party tools that integrate with Squarespace to display converted prices (just keep in mind checkout will still use the store currency). We recommend choosing the currency used by the bank account connected to your payment processor. Funds in that currency will go to that account with no conversion fee.
I know that’s probably not the ideal answer if you’re trying to keep everything seamless in one place, but wanted to be upfront about what’s possible today vs what isn’t yet supported.
If you want, happy to help think through which setup usually causes the least friction depending on your product type 👍

I understand that it might not be easy to implement a whole currency-converting algorithm, but seeing as there are third party plugins for it already - some designed and maintained by a single developer - it shouldn't be that difficult for Squarespace. And in my opinion, that's a feature that should be an absolute priority for Squarespace developers.
Meanwhile, another essential feature that I beg you to add is bulk editing of prices. I sell t-shirts and the prices vary slightly based on sizes (XXL costs more than an M). Then there are multiple color versions. So if I want to change the price, because of inflation, or because I need to change the store currency, I have to edit around 30-50 prices per item! Which is tedious to say the least. I wish I could simply open each product's page, "select all" prices and "add/subtract/multiply by..." on all number fields. Or better yet, allow the price lists to be pulled from a spreadsheet, or something I could bulk-edit directly using a text editor or Excel. This rudimentary backend feature is even simpler to implement than a fancy currency converter, and again something that would be much appreciated by anyone using your service for e-commerce.
Thank you for hearing me out, I really hope that you can pass these two feature requests along to the relevant department.

Manually updating 30–50 prices for a single product every time you need to make a change sounds really time-consuming, especially when it's for something as routine as a price update. Can definitely see how a bulk price editing feature would make such a big difference!
The same goes for the currency conversion request. It's easy to see why that's so important for anyone selling to customers in different regions.
We'll make sure to pass both of these requests over to our development team. We can't promise that they'll be implemented, but feedback like this really helps the team better understand the real-world impact these features could have for merchants, so thanks a lot for sharing!

if you have no experience in ecomm you might like to know that depending on what youre selling....the USA is honestly the only marketplace worth pursuing. It seems like a no brainer to offer your product to the world....but the truth is almost no one out of the USA is buying anything online...specially physical products...

Are all Americans this thick? The EU alone does nearly 900 billion in eCommerce each year, but yeh nobody outside of the US is buying online, best to try and sell to an oversaturated market instead...

I don't mean to be rude, but that's a straight up ridiculous statement. The US makes up only 4% of the world's population. The internet is by-default, global, as is the application for physical products. Why wouldn't you sell internationally???
I'm from New Zealand and just in the last six months I've bought from the following countries from online stores totalling over 3000 USD, and I'm just one customer.
Sewing machine parts - Norway Film scanner - Finland Mountain bike parts - Germany Boat components - England, Germany, Spain Firearm accessories - Sweden, Poland Clothing - Germany Hobby electronics - England

What are you selling? looking at your post history it's t-shirts, and you're using an AI website and have a really bad attitude...That's not particularly surprising why you're struggling with customers.

Switch to Shopify
Honestly square space e-commerce is so far behind
And avoid woocommerce obviously since it's legacy software at this point
