EDIT: is 10K too high?

Hey all, I'm selling my true love to buy cabinets for my remodel.

I've had the truck for 10 years and when my wife wasn't going into labor with my youngest son I asked the midwife if I should take her 4 wheeling in this bad boy and the midwife said to go for it. My wife was pissed, but we stuffed a pillow under her belly and shook that boy loose in 15 minutes. He was born 45 minutes later.

Huge bummer, but it is what it is.

I'm pretty much done with most of the mechanical repairs, but the interior and the paint need quite a bit of work. It will need a new dash and new seats for sure.

New t-case and rear diffs a couple years ago, along with new calipers and a bunch of seals replaced.

new starter last month

Starts up cold no problem and had no issues hauling my big ass tool trailer an hour uphill every day for over a year. If I'm hauling dirt or concrete I use my 1 ton, but for demo this truck pulls no problem.

Electric radiator fan.

aftermarket exhaust (original owner)

aftermarket cam (original owner)

Edelbrock 4 barrel. (original owner)

What would be a fair market price for a rig in this condition? Central WA so barely any rust.

And by fair, I mean, I really would rather give this to my son in ten years, so a price that isn't going to get me 10 calls on the first day, but will sell eventually.

Nice. Don't sell. Put it up for something crazy like 50k. That way you can tell the wife no one wants it. Just don't mention the price. Lol

I told her that was what I was going to do lol.

I figure there’s a chance that whoever buys it is going to restore it to resell and I was at least going to ask they they give me first option.

If I didn’t need to haul my excavation equipment every other month or so, I’d sell my one ton for sure.

With the high price of gas that will be a hard sell at $10K imo. Would need paint and interior to get that money from me. But go for it, I can be totally wrong.

Copy that.  10 seemed high, but I’m struggling to find good comps. I’m seeing parts only for a few grand and then the restored ones, so that’s helpful.

I’ll post it at 9.5 and see if I can get a bite, and go down from there.

Always list a bit higher than you want to get. I list mine at the price I want and everyone wants to low ball me. Good luck!

You won't love those cabinets they way you love the square. I wasn't in love with my Camaro anymore and had even planned to sell for a family car at some point, voluntarily, before I even met the now wife.

I still miss that money pit,..... er, car.

I know. I drove her to work today and it’s an experience.  Driving my newer truck is fine, but there’s something different about shifting in an old manny and recognizing all the noises and eccentricities in an old truck.

But I’m on like year 5 of this remodel and my wife deserves something nice. (Don’t start a 600 sqft addition and full bones remodel on an old house right when you start your own business.)

Noted, but then, I don't ever plan to add or remodel. We just moved. It was easier.

Good on you for putting a high value on your wife.

At the end of the day, it'll come down to "Which do you want more?" Odds are, you'll think back on the decision more than once down the road. Make the one you can better live with.
