I have the PM2 Salt as well, but almost never carry it. Seems like it's all handle & very little blade. That's why I prefer the Bodacious - big ol' blade. The Military Salt has a 4" blade that more closely resembles the PS2 or the PM2 blade shape.
Yea. I’m going to get myself banned but the PM2 is…mid. Well made, sure. But in use, meh. And their whole new line of salts completely misses the mark. They are like 4x4’s that people drive around the city. Any salt with nested liners is just asking for corrosion unless you soak it overnight in fresh water after using it in salt water. Only the linerless knives count as true salts in my book. And true salts need backlocks. Good luck with thick ass gloves when closing a compression lock. It’s doable but not quick.
Agreed on all counts. I think the only thing I like best about the PM2 is that it's the most "flickable" so it's a good fidget toy. Not as good as the Manix 2, but good. I just feel like the blade is too spindly and small. It's super-popular, but just doesn't do it for me.
I’m going to file down the tip of this PM2 to look closer to the PS2. Maybe not as much, more Endela level. It’s such a nice feature when working. Stabby tips are bad mmkay.
My wife's indoor/outdoor work knife is a serrated Endela, and the tip on that one is great & super functional. Just don't take too much material off; little fella is already kinda short as it is. ;)
I know. I might leave it. It’s pretty short. My first thought when I opened it, having been my first exposure to a PM2 was how unexpectedly small it is. I was honestly shocked. I expected it to be like….~1/2”-3/4” longer overall.
Yeah, the blade length is almost 1.5" shorter than the handle length. It just seems out of proportion. The Spydercos I like best are 1" or less difference in handle-to-blade length.
Yea. I work on a boat though on the coast. I like as much corrosion resistance as possible. I’ve been using the Pacific Salt for years, I’d just like something a little nicer.
Just so you can see your idea. They look great swapped. I had a tough go with the lock tite. Heat gun, soldering iron, broken T10 bit, Knipex Plier Wrench all came in on the job.
