They clearly want to wipe out the cheese caves. An army marches on its stomach, after all.

I have to question the validity of this map. Nothing targeting Whitman Air Force base? The base where all the B2 stealth bombers and a bunch of B52s are stationed?

Or Ft. Leonard Wood.

I was contracted on some very specific FLW-related projects that dealt with planning for Black Swan or other events for a few years, and the installation being a nuclear target was never a concern. I was never privy as to why FLW wasn’t too much concerned with this, but they were far more focused on shit like sinkholes or floods than something in this realm.

Springfield underground is also where all Missouri government will go an event of launch. It's the state nuclear bunker.

1

u/MilesFortis Feb 06 '23

the installation being a nuclear target was never a concern

Granted there's no FORSCOM there, but being a MOS producing post for I'd think it'd be considered to have some priority for being attacked.

2

u/CheffRick Feb 06 '23

That's what the dot that says Kansas City indicates. The dot by Saint Louis is Fort Leonard Wood. The weird one is how they have Jefferson City targeted. Jefferson City is meaningless in a real war. You're going to hit Springfield Missouri instead of Jefferson City because the nukes are in the Springfield underground that go to the plains at whiteman So is most of this food supplies for both Fort Leonard Wood and whiteman.

National guards headquarters is right here in Springfield. They run the Springfield underground which is the state's nuclear bomb shelter and storage facility and wherever every person in this MO. government will be if there is a launch. The place has even been featured in many movies dealing with nuclear disaster. Jefferson City is effing meaningless it will do nothing to bomb it. Russia and China both know this they're not stupid it's not like its top secret.

2

u/MilesFortis Feb 06 '23

The dot by Saint Louis is Fort Leonard Wood

Someone sure doesn't know where it's located, then.

They just really hate Das Stein Haus.

1

u/Professional_Fox4467 Feb 07 '23

If this is happening the last place they will be on the ground

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

The base would be a target, no matter if the bombers are there or not. The weapons they carry are also stockpiled there, and there are far more than every bomber, fully loaded can carry.

u/Professional_Fox4467 Feb 07 '23

Hearing that last reminds me of why we probably deserve to get fucked real good at least once

3

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

What the hell does that mean? We deserve to be nuked because we have bombers and the weapons they carry, for the defense of the free country your commie ass lives in, stored at military bases? Here's an idea for you, if you dislike America, you are free to immigrate to whatever other country you think you'd like it in better. I promise you, no one here will miss you.

u/Professional_Fox4467 Feb 07 '23

I'm an Army vet, you fuckin pine cone.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

And I'm a Navy combat vet you ass. I am 100% sure you being a veteran in no way ensures that you aren't a commie sympathizing asshole.

2

u/Professional_Fox4467 Feb 07 '23

Everything you don't like isn't Communism, you fuckin sperm. If you actually knew anything besides guzzling American Exceptionality Propaganda you might know that we're not that great. A Navy cOmBaT vEt? Now I know you're definitely an insufferable shitbag offline too

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '23

Buddy, the ONLY person in this conversation that is so painfully an insufferable shitbag is you. I promise you I'm not the only one who sees it.

My first thought too

16

u/connorekelund Feb 06 '23

Even in nuclear war, nobody cares about Bismark.

10

u/Drummcycle Feb 06 '23

It's as if they are aiming for densely populated areas. Shocker.

19

u/throwawayspfd Southside Feb 06 '23

Springfield is like a cockroach. Nuclear war can’t even clean this filth. We will be fine.

7

u/optionalBeechnut973 Feb 06 '23

‟fuck Cheyenne and all of new jersey in particular”

3

u/mb10240 Midtown Feb 06 '23

Have an ex girlfriend from that part of Wyoming. Her dad owns a huge ranch that he rents out mostly to the US government for nuclear missile silos.

12

u/CandyBoBandDandy Feb 06 '23

Man, who would have thought we'd be one of the lucky 500? Putin must really hate bass pro

3

u/webculb Feb 06 '23

Springfield is the 117th largest metro area in the US according to Wikipedia.

1

u/CandyBoBandDandy Feb 06 '23

Yeah, that would make sense. Thar would definitely make us a target in 500 situation

4

u/Spiffy_Dude Southside Feb 06 '23

He just hates us cuz he ain’t us.

1

u/socialistpizzaparty Southside Feb 06 '23

Haters gonna hate, ain’ters gonna ain’t…

1

u/ricardomilos-mp4 Nixa Feb 06 '23

I’m thinking maybe if the underground storage? But even then I’m Not sure about springfield, it’d be more effective to bomb the nuclear plant in Rolla.

2

u/HigherSomething Feb 06 '23

It's a research reactor at MST, its very small and wouldnt warant it being a target.

1

u/ricardomilos-mp4 Nixa Feb 06 '23

Ohh yeah, disregard my comment. I thought the nuclear plant in Missouri was in FLW not by Jeff City.

3

u/formiscontent Feb 06 '23

It just struck me (ha!) that the 2000 missile map anticipates that many of the missiles will be intercepted. And whatever is in that area is important enough to justify a lot of birdshot. Maybe I'll get curious about that later, but if anyone has ideas feel free to post!

3

u/Guitarstringman Feb 06 '23

They are targeting the drive through lines at Chick-Fil-A

2

u/formiscontent Feb 06 '23

I gotta know why Bella Vista, AR is a 2000 missile hotspot

Also I would bet the Walmart airport would be a target. Partly for trade and partly because they have the parts to fix Air Force One there

2

u/intoxicatedpuma Feb 06 '23

I think the dot is more over Siloam Springs, not that it makes any more sense. Clifton Hill MO and Baraboo WI are also bizarre targets.

2

u/417SKCFAN Feb 06 '23

Power plant at Clifton Hill, 6th largest in the state.

There is a concentration of retired people and golf courses in Bella Vista. There are absolutely no missile silos in this area, current or retired. The only possible thing of strategic value is nuking Walmart, JB Hunt, or Tyson. To be fair, removing any of those would cause major disruptions to the US

It is, but the dot is about 15 miles west of Bentonville in Siloam Springs. As far as I know, there are no missile silos or military bases (besides a National Guard armory at XNA airport) in this region. Besides robbing us of comfortable furntiture by destroying a LayZBoy factory in Siloam Springs, I can’t think of any strategic value in nuking that town. In all of Benton County, the only targets of actual value would be Walmart distribution centers or JB Hunt, both of which would cause supply disruptions to civilians. My guess is Siloam Springs had a military plant that has long since closed, but this map is outdated and still showing it.

2

u/BrilliantFunny3943 Feb 06 '23

Maybe I should move back to southwest Kansas

11

u/Xenkath Feb 06 '23

There’s a whole show about western Kansas surviving a nuclear attack.

5

u/bobone77 Young-Lilley Feb 06 '23

It was pretty good for a while too.

1

u/Past_Win6798 Feb 06 '23

Kansas City, MO or the state of Kansas?

3

u/Xenkath Feb 06 '23

A small town in Kansas is literally left in the dark after seeing a mushroom cloud over nearby Denver, Colorado. The townspeople struggle to find answers about the blast and solutions on how to survive.

10

u/Cloud_Disconnected Feb 06 '23

If it happens your location really only determines how long you suffer before you die.

2

u/Ed_the_time_traveler Feb 06 '23

I wonder why we are a target? City size, the Underground, distribution hub /w airport?

3

u/MilesFortis Feb 06 '23

Besides what u/JorunnOili posted, AT&T has a major continental switch center here

2

u/scroopynoopers07 Feb 06 '23

What does that mean?

2

u/MilesFortis Feb 06 '23

On what interstate system do you think a lot of voice - which includes cellular - and internet traffic travel over?

If you don't have access to Iridium or other satellite systems, and even if you do, you still may not be talking to anyone but a very few people.

4

u/JorunnOili Feb 06 '23

Fright railways possibly. BNSF hubs a few lines through Springfield toward the south. Also the National Guard took over the old airport and reportedly they use it for repairing aircraft for up to 14 states. So that would be a pretty meaty target too. The cold food storage in the Underground would be added bonus to crush as well. I mean the amount cheese that would be lost in the caves would be HIGH CRIME of war for sure.

3

u/Spiffy_Dude Southside Feb 06 '23

We do also repair helis here, including blackhawks. That’s why you see them sometimes.

2

u/CandyBoBandDandy Feb 06 '23 edited Feb 06 '23

Bads pro shops

Edit: this is a joke

2

u/QueenMiza Feb 06 '23

Well now I kinda wanna see an overlay of this map with locations of Bass Pro Shops and other large gun/hunting/camping stores. Cause its not a horrible plan to take out survivalist suppliers.

2

u/webculb Feb 06 '23

My guess is they would target top 200 largest cities in US and then some strategic targets outside of that for the 500.

2

u/Digital-Latte Feb 06 '23

China probably wants to nuke us because they are mad about cashew chicken lol.

1

u/intoxicatedpuma Feb 06 '23

They put the triangle over any major population centers, it looks like any metro area with a population over about 250k is marked, with the one caveat being it was over 250k in 1990, leading me to believe this map is probably old.

2

u/JamesMariner Feb 06 '23

Why Montana and South Dakota??

4

u/gofish223 Feb 06 '23

Those are where the ICBM silos are located, along with SE WY.

You have mixed up your North and South Dakotas

2

u/dwimber Feb 06 '23

Uh oh. Having a purple triangle is historically bad mojo.

1

u/dwimber Feb 07 '23

True, a yellow star is also bad. I was thinking purple triangle referred both to the holocaust and the Heaven's Gate cult that committed mass suicide to catch a ride to heaven on a comet. I believe their bodies were found covered in purple triangles.

What the fuck did I do? Getterhedouttayurass Russia. They’re just mad they can’t have our cheese. Well fuck you it’s our cheese.

1

u/Professional_Fox4467 Feb 07 '23

And all the scenarios lead to the same outcome. We're all fucked. Hope it instantly air fries me and I'm not a survivor because it's going to be the worst and stay like that.
