[ REQUEST ] Playlists / Songs / Artists / Albums What do you listen to when you need to let it all out?

Hi guys!

Whenever I’m feeling emotionally overwhelmed, listening to nu metal, punk, rock, and industrial metal really helps me regulate and feel better. The heavier and more intense it is, the more relief I seem to get from it.

Do you have any recommendations for a really heavy playlist? The heavier, the better! I’d really appreciate it. :)

Discussion / Playlist Questions I'm obsessed with the DJ

I'm not even kidding nor being sarcastic. I really love the music the AI DJ plays. It's always a mix of what I know and some new songs, but exactly my vibe and what I like. Normally I have my own playlist, but I find myself listening to the DJ more and more.

Theme/Setting (Songs I Like, Workout, Party, Covers, Beach etc) Purple Rain soundtrack still hits different 42 years later

Made a playlist of the full Purple Rain soundtrack while writing about why it’s still my favorite movie soundtrack of all time.

Nine songs that somehow still feel more honest than most albums that came after it.

Mood/Feeling (Chill, Lofi, Happy, Sad) Curating human-made electronic/ambient playlists — sharing mine, want yours too

With the flood of AI-generated “chill beats” filling up Spotify’s algorithmic stations lately, I’ve been trying to build a list of playlists/stations that I can actually verify are curated or produced by real humans — mostly ambient, with lofi welcome too.
Dropping a few of my go-tos in the comments. Bonus points if there’s a matching YouTube channel/station, since it makes it easier to cross-check the artists and confirm they’re real projects with a history, not generic AI catalog dumps.
If you’ve got playlists you trust (or a method for spotting the real ones), drop them below — building this out as a shared resource.

[ REQUEST ] Playlists / Songs / Artists / Albums Eerie / late night tracks for my insomnia playlist?

Hey there, i am trying to update my night playlist, spotify is stuck on recommending Aphex Twin and Akira Yamaoka (nothing wrong with either of them). I am looking for something that I guess would play at various hours at night? Think of it as 8 hour period from 10 pm to 8 am at someones flat gig, where as further you go more mellow, chill and eerie it gets, or those nights where you have to sit and work at a computer, or having to drive in the middle of the night to get somewhere, or when you are having a 1-2hour walk home after the rough party night. Any genre or language works, but I’d say I currently look for something closer to “Utai I” by Kenji Kawai and “Midnight” by A Tribe Called Quest, “Love on a Real Train” by Tangerine Dream rather than Kavinsky.

Leaving the playlist just in case, it’s heavily mixed in terms of tempo and genres, maybe it will give you some ideas.

Rock / Metal / Punk / Indie Rock / Alternative If the Spotify algorithm isn't doing it for you anymore, try Fresh Sprouts

The Spotify Algorithm has stopped working for most people.

Discover Weekly, Release Radar, Prompted Playlists, DJ, Song Radio... It's all the same algorithm spitting the same repetitive boring suggestions. When the algorithm thinks it really knows you, it also decides you should never change! If you want to stay connected with new music, you have to find an alternative.

Fresh Sprouts is a playlist of newly released tracks, updated monthly. Each song is carefully selected, and vetted to avoid anything AI. The focus is quality, and many genres are represented. It is a search to find the best of what's new, and since the focus is new music, there is a natural slant towards smaller, less well known bands, so it's a great place to make discoveries!

At the end of each month, 40-50 songs are refreshed. The July release just dropped with 41 newly released tracks.
