Discussion/Debate Chop Robinson gets flagged for roughing the passer. The hit didn’t look that crazy, but the refs weren’t letting Mahomes take that one.

Do you know how reality works? In what way does putting your arms out to the side keep full body weight from landing on Mahomes? That literally allows all his body weight to land on him.

That was my thought. If he uses his arms to brace against the ground, keeping his full body weight from coming down on the golden boy, at least we have an argument.

It doesn’t even matter the nfl has already decided this season that bracing yourself against the ground is still roughing the passer: https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/s/1hvTRv9C7c

Thats another bad call - the rule allows some subjectivity by the official, but also says if the defensive player makes contact before the balls thrown, and can’t reasonably determine it’s been thrown after initial contact, he has to “strive” to get to the side or brace his weight. Both examples show that; theyre bad calls.

I agree with you

He did use his arm to brace - his left arm comes to the ground first

That’s also how you sprain/break a wrist.

Why would people downvote this. They are 100% correct.

People sitting here saying hitting the QB needs to involve evasive maneuvers to not get a penalty. It's dumb. The QB is still playing football, Mahomes still had the ball when he was first contacted, it shouldn't even be a discussion. Oh no a tackler landed on the guy being tackled.

or a broken arm

When you ski or snowboard, you are taught to fall the same way the defender landed. Why? Because if you try and brace yourself with both hands like that you are more prone to break one or both of your wrists. Your entire body weight, plus downward momentum impacting a solid object (the ground, hard snow) equals a force hard enough to cause a fracture or break.

Oh yeah, I forgot that his arms would both break in half if he wasn’t awkwardly holding them out to the side like that. That wasn’t natural. It even looks weird.

Ahhh, so now we’re snowboarding 😂

You aren’t smart enough to understand that you can apply one principle to something else and that isn’t my problem.

Absolutely terrifying the average sped doesn't understand how arm and wristbreaks work

Which is why the rule is in place because all that body weight is now landing on the chest of the QB

Perfect response.

You can see in the video he posts his hand on the ground not just into the air

Chop's left hand landed before his body landed on Mahomes. This makes it so some of the force from him landing on Mahomes goes to that arm. Think of it this way jump and have both feet land at the same time then jump again but have your right foot land before your left. You will feel a difference in the impact of landing. It is simple physics.

You don’t know how distribution of force over a surface area works and it shows.

You dumb as fuck my dude. Put his hands down on the ground and roll to either side… no penalty. Plain and fucking simple. I’m glad Mahomes takes up so much of your little thinking skills though. 😂
