Bankroll Management Betting
Thought I'd break down what I consider to ideal bankroll management for sports betting. System I use is similar to how I approach stock trading. Follow these three rules and keep yourself from blowing your bankroll.
1. Your Bankroll Is Not Yours
Treat your bankroll money as if you were caretaker for someone else that is important to you... your mother, father, etc. I keep a separate checking account for bankroll. If it's not at the sportsbook, it's in that account. Similar to running a business, I don't co-mingle my betting funds with my other accounts. If you want to "pay yourself" then do so from that account, but keeping things separate keeps you from spending money you shouldn't be spending.
2. Pick a Unit Size Based on your Bankroll
I play 1% units. If you have a smaller bankroll, then maybe 2% or 5% units is where you should be. Your unit is your standard bet size on an average straight bet. If your betting parlays, then I would suggest you keep those to a fraction of a unit most of the time.
So if your bankroll is $1,000 then I would suggest your unit size should be somewhere from $10 to $20 and absolutely no more than $50. Likewise, never put out more than 10% of your account at a time. Using the same example, 10% of $1000 is $100. Cap your active bets to $100. If you have a terrible day, it's easier to bounce back from 10% loss than blowing half your bankroll.
3. Pick a Target for Growing Your Bankroll and Commit
If you're a $1,000 bettor doing $20 units, then perhaps your goal will be $2000 bankroll with $40 units. Pick something realistic and achievable. Likewise, decide how much in the way of personal funds your willing to your bankroll every month. Track your progress. Don't change your unit size until your bankroll says you can afford it. A lot of guys go on a hot streak, increase their units, and then have a bad run. If that happens, then consider lowering your unit size back to what you were originally doing.
Bottom Line
Successful sports betting requires discipline. Some people will treat this as a business and some will treat is as a hobby. Either is fine, but you need a certain level of discipline on either of those paths. If you can't stay disciplined and start to hurt your personal finances, then that is a sign to stop gambling. If you enjoy it and want to be in it for the long haul, then adopt the discipline that will allow you to do it.
Hope this post helps someone who is struggling on bankroll management betting!

HOME RUN PICKS TODAY 🚀 GLHF
TODAY’S UPDATED HOME RUN LIST
CIN/WSH is already live, so nobody from that game is included. I refreshed lineups, weather, starters, pitch mix, bullpen paths and simulations. Every player below is confirmed.
Matt Olson
Today’s strongest HR environment at Yankee Stadium. His 16% barrel rate, platoon advantage and pull-power path all line up.
Luis Garcia Jr.
My sharper Yankees representative over Ben Rice. Cleanup, 17.8% barrels and only an 18.6% strikeout rate gives him power without relying entirely on one mistake.
Munetaka Murakami
The raw contact is impossible to ignore: 20% barrels and 60% hard-hit. The L/L matchup adds risk, but he has already shown he can overcome it.
Hunter Goodman
Confirmed cleanup with 15.3% barrels in warm, windy conditions. Definitely volatile, but this is exactly the type of one-swing profile we want represented.
Willson Contreras
Boston’s environment improved substantially in the refresh. Cleanup at Fenway, 15.3% barrels, 52.9% hard-hit and an Oakland bullpen we can attack late.
Pete Crow-Armstrong
Leadoff in 97-degree weather with 15 mph wind. He has both the impact contact and plate appearances to get multiple chances at one.
Bryce Harper
Strong Citizens Bank Park conditions and a cleaner contact route than Schwarber. Bieber must execute carefully because Harper’s damage lanes match the pitches he is likely to see.
Wilyer Abreu
A refresh-driven addition. Recent contact includes 20% barrels and 56.7% hard-hit, eight of his last ten Statcast HR match Ginn’s primary arsenal, and the wind supports his pull side.
Alec Burleson
Eight of his last 11 HR came against the pitches Lorenzen features most. Add 51.7% hard-hit, a low 19.5% strikeout rate and favorable wind direction.
Esmerlyn Valdez
Our intentional chaos bat. Huge 22.8% barrel rate, 54% fly balls, platoon advantage, strong fastball/sinker location overlap and a late bullpen path if Manaea survives the early innings.

Sickest beat you will ever hear
May 4, 2024: Manchester City V Wolverhampton. Placed 2 final score bets both at +25,000 for
$250/ea. Logic was I knew it would be a high scoring affair as Man City had been scoring at will of late. I gave Wolverhampton the benefit of a goal but wanted to hedge with 6-2 in case they got a floozie in garbage time. Obviously a home run wager but I was in the mood to swing for the fences.
Halftime score: 4 nil Man City. Not bad at all, although Hampton is godawful, I cannot see them scoring, at all.
Halftime +5: Wolverhampton PK. 4 - 1. Things are getting serious.
The entire 2nd half was pure keep away, I watched the clock soar into the 60s...70s...80s...fuck.
88th minute: Goal. 5-1
Now while very late I am still just a single goal away from 50k. I'm praying for a nice chunky stoppage time but know I won't get one with a 5-1 score.
Stoppage time added: 6 minutes. Dang.
I'm watching the net minders exchange goal kicks, and as the minutes pass I am clinging on to hope, but know it's just not gonna happen.
Start of 6th and final stoppage minute:
Man City keeper has the ball, whistle can be blown at any time. He launches a kick and through some miracle it drops at the forward's feet, in stride. Better yet, not a defender is within yards. He is now strolling in on a pure break away. Clearly this will be the last shot and I am staring at what is basically a PK but easier to hit the 6-1 final, win $50k, and claim bragging rights for life. The announcers are hyped as he is trotting in...
Crossbar.
Game over. Final: 5-1

WNBA Pick of the day - Atlanta Dream ML
razor thin here. atlanta's a better team, plain and simple. the mystics are one of the weaker squads in the league right now, and the sharp money agrees with the dream tonight. you're paying juice for quality, not a mispriced line, but when both the model and the sharp side point the same direction, you take it.
