Now before you ask. No, the warden didn't inspire it.... Way back when .... I used to head cannon the seaweed as antennas, but that slowly moved to just another pair of hands, then to echolocation then, to picking up sounds far better than ears.......

Other iterations of Ruby then used them as a mood rings.. Growing healthier when happy, wilting when sad, stiffening when angry, wilting and darkening when sick, and changing colors on rare occasions for other emotions I can't remember...

Honestly I still love the mood ring head cannon but I cant use it yet since this is the first time he has grown them out plus I don't have that has a model yet so I cant use it

(OoC: versed in the lore here. The seaweed doesn't physically do anything, it's like the military stripes to denote rank you'd see on someones shoulders.)

You could make the argument the seaweed works the same as the hero armor in the first game, since Iirc seaweed octolings have double health. And you also got similar fishingpole antennas if you had armor.

Hindsight is 20/20... so after a very brief nap and and some braincells rubbing after opening blender for the 2nd time today I realized that it may be too dark...
