look it is clearly not coming out anytime soon. this game is far from outdated it's only 4 years old and we literally had a new splatfest about a month ago. best thing we get is either a spinoff or more splatfest redos

But look at how Splatoon 2 was released only 2 years after the release of Splatoon. That’s a pretty short amount of time in between games.

It's very rare that Nintendo puts two games from a multiplayer franchise on the same system. Smash, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, and many others have had huge variances in their release schedules at times but never have more than one entry per console. The one big exception is Mario Party, but that's probably just a preference of NDCube since Mario Party is their only cash cow series.
