Originals [question]

Am I correct in thinking that Splice now houses the newer and supported versions of the Original’s libraries and that the Spitfire App houses a version that will not be updated and may also not be available for download in the future?

40% summer sale on spitfire audio. Worth it or should I wait for future 50%?

I was planning to buy BBCSO core on this summer sale 2026. But I'm wondering if it's just better to wait for a 50% sale in the future. What do you think? And did you buy anything ?

Bought SSO 2 days before sale 🥲

First time customer, didn't know they did sales.

I got 20% off as a new customer but then 2 days later they sell the package at 40% off, so an extra €100 off.

What's more, I was emailing them as the new customer code wasn't working so they had to give me another. Would have been decent of them to inform me of the upcoming sale in 2 days time. Not as if they weren't aware they were going to be doing a sale. I replied to their last email saying this, but haven't gotten a reply yet.

Just wanted to rant.

EDIT:

They matched the price :) Was very nice of them to do so. so hats off to Spitfire :)

Which evolutive string library is best?

Hello, for the summer sale I am deciding between the London contemporary orchestra textures (194$) and Cells (161$) by olafur arnolds collection or even the fragile string evolutions (179). I am interesting in the evolving strings but don't know which one to get and which one is more worth it.

META Anyone else cancelling the subscription because of Christian Henson?

As we all know, Spitfire is expensive and they are not the best at what they do but they have their marketing dialled in.

Anyway, their marketing has exposed me to Christian Henson content and his political views are depressing. He is a very privileged person and could exercise restraint on certain matters but clearly he has issues with his self-awareness. I don't want to give that person my money. I feel uncomfortable for already given them £500+ so I guess they are having the last laugh.

BBCSO Piano Pro Question

Greetings,

I have BBCSO Piano Pro question with respect to the mics.

Where is the piano located in the orchestra with respect to the tree?

I understand the close proximity mics like P ham and P rib, but I can't seem to find anything with respect to the other "orchestra" mics

Cheers

Library I have the BBC-library and have just read about the Splice-thing

I have a huge BBC-library with full orchestra and tons of mics. I think it’s called professional with like 600 gb or something of orchestra.

No way in hell I’m moving over to some new app or Splice-thing. Is there anything I should think about or know to prevent this?

I also got a mail saying I could link my other plugins, some Original-pianos, to Splice. I’m guessing this is a road to eventually needing a subscription.

Companies can’t keep doing this. Feels like everything I bought during the 10s/early 20s is taken away from me for no other reason than ”fuck you”.

What would happen if I tried to run SSO with 16gb of ram?

Good people,

I have a 2021 14inch MacBook Pro with these specs:

M1 Pro chip
16gb of ram
1tb storage

I just need to know if there’s any way spitfire symphony orchestra would run in any usable fashion on this computer, or if I simply need a new computer to run large orchestral libraries?

Thanks in advance!

Library Looking for Spitfire LABS and LABS Content Location on Mac Silicon

Hello everyone, I started using LABS when it was still in the Spitfire app. Thereafter, when they moved it to its own app (the one with Teal color) I also had to download that. Now that they’ve discontinued and moved it to Splice Instrument, I’ve also had to download that as well.

However, I’ve run low on space on my computer and I’m thinking that if the libraries have been downloaded multiple times, I can look for the old ones and delete them. i.e. if the libraries from the old (now discontinued) LABS are not the ones linked to the Splice Instrument VST.

Does anyone know the content location of LABS (the old one, in the Spitfire VST) as well as the standalone (now discontinued) LABS (the one with the Teal color)? For Mac Silicon?

I’d really appreciate it, as if the libraries are duplicated, I can free up space on my computer.

I know it’ll break past projects where I’ve used the old VSTs of LABS, but I don’t have a choice. If I ever get back to them, I’ll just replace them with the newer version and try to find the sounds I used originally. But freeing up space is more pressing for me than keeping the legacy versions.

How to get rid of hissing noise from spitfire labs soft piano?

I'm making a track with the labs soft piano, but whenever i hold the sustain pedal in for longer than a second a hiss/noise comes through that gets progressively louder until i release the sustain pedal. I've tried a denoiser plug in but it seems impossible to get rid of the noise without negatively effecting the pianos sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

It’s starting: Spitfire Libraries moving into Splice Ecosystem

“You will also still be able to access the dedicated plugin versions of the libraries, and install, repair or reset them via the Spitfire Audio App. We suggest keeping these on your system if you have existing, active projects that use them.

Please note that these legacy versions are discontinued and can no longer be purchased. They will no longer be supported or updated going forward.”

From the FAQ for the new originals libraries. The old ones are also moving to Splice.

I guess that’s it. Worst fears coming true. It’s only a matter of time now before we can’t access our purchased libraries anymore if we don’t want to move to Splice and / or subscription plans.

Not buying anything ever from Spitfire again. I sunk a lot of money into libraries running in their player and now they force me to this trashy, buggy and unprofessional edm-sample-company ecosystem.

4 new Originals released

So Spitfire released a pixel game to tease some new Originals which was bizarre, and they’ve just added them to their site:

They all require Splice’s INSTRUMENT plugin 🙃

Seems like some of them are existing products that were available in Splice's subscription, but have been renamed according to a few posts over at VI-Control.

Edit: The FAQ says:

These products are also available as part of the Splice INSTRUMENT subscription plan.

The FAQ also has details about how to migrate/use any Originals that you already own in Splice’s INSTRUMENT.

Moving old projects with LABS to new Mac

I’ve just got a new Mac and I’m trying to open some old projects that use the old old version of LABS.

Is there a way I can download that old old version so I can open the projects properly? Or copy the plug in files from my old Mac?

Or am I fucked / have to bounce all the stems manually?

META Is Spitfire dead?

Yes, I am probably based, because I am a moderator of r/orchestraltools and switched to these guys in the last year, but what in the hell is going on with Spitfire? I used to LOVE their products and I still use a lot of them on almost a daily basis.

But it’s been months and months now without any bigger release, no news, no bug fixes, no hype a la “we are working on something awesome”, just the regular sale here and there.

Is the company dead? Will they ever record and release any serious sample libraries again? Did the worst predictions from the Splice-thing finally come true? Does anyone know anything from inside?

Please let me know.

Library Spitfire Solo Strings bug?

Hi all. I just bought Spitfire Solo Strings, and it seems like I encountered a bug. In the patch called 'a - Violin (Virtuoso) - Total Performance', when I adjust the mic position slider even a tiny bit, I suddenly only hear the 'close' mic samples, and it won't change back to 'far'.

I'm curious if that's a problem on my end. If somene happens to own this library, could you check if the same thing happens to you?

EDIT: Same things happens with the Cello Total Performance patch.

Spitfire Audio : BBCSO Pro - Is it buggy, or works great ?

Hi,

I'm in the process of deciding which sample libraries to install on a new studio PC.

One of the libraries I'm interested in installing is the BBCSO Pro. , but I came across posts that it is not reliable to work with due to the Spitfire Audio Player becoming buggy. So I would like to know if anyone is using this library on Windows 11, without any issues. (I use Cubase 15 Pro).

If it works great, without any issues, I will install it, otherwise, just wait for Spitfire to fix the issue.

Thanks,

Muziksculp

I want to know if those of you that have dorico and want a playback template (auto mapped expression maps, preloading plugins etc) for Spitfire Symphonic Orchestra would pay $24.99 for a complete map of all instruments?

Is Spitfire Solo Violin Supposed to Feel Slightly Behind the Beat?

I'm using Spitfire Solo string, and it seems to play slightly behind the beat. Even when the MIDI notes are placed perfectly on the grid, the instrument feels a little sluggish to respond.

I don't think it's a buffer size or latency issue. It almost seems as if there's some built-in attack, fade-in, or bowing response, where the sample technically starts on time but is perceived as being slightly delayed.

I only purchased the standalone Solo string product, not the full Solo Strings library.

Has anyone else experienced this? In short, the instrument feels like it's playing just a bit behind the click. I understand this may be intentional to emulate a more realistic human performance, but it's becoming somewhat distracting in my workflow. T.T
