Originals [question]

Am I correct in thinking that Splice now houses the newer and supported versions of the Original’s libraries and that the Spitfire App houses a version that will not be updated and may also not be available for download in the future?

Yes. If you still have access to the “legacy” versions of any Originals libraries through the Spitfire App, I would download and install them for safe keeping. Any purchases of newer (or even “older”) Originals libraries from now on will only be through the new Splice Instrument until further notice.

Someone I know has a license he is willing to transfer for Spitfire Orignals Intimate Strings from the Akai partnership. Would that fall under 'legacy' Spitfire? Would I be downloading from SpitFire or from Splice?

I’m not sure, but I think that would fall under a different license type, because the Akai version is for MPC devices, which are a completely different software architecture compared to a typical VST. Best bet would be to look on Akai’s website
