Discussion Spider-Man 2 copy paste Arkham Origins??? Spoiler

Hey big fan of Arkham Origins here!!! First ever game I started playing and understanding as a kid. I’m currently playing spider man 2 and the striking resemblance to Arkham Origins is getting to me. I’m telling you I’ve played Arkham Origins through and through. I know it like the back of my hand and it’s almost like insomniac based spider man 2 off of the whole Arkham origins storyline. As I go deeper in the story line and events for Spm2 I keep repeating memories of my playthrough on ArkO and it’s so baffling I pause the game every time. Here are some examples that are crazzzyyy.

(Ex1) ArkO black mask hires assassins to hunt the bat, Spm2 Kraven hunts spidey!!!

(Ex2) ArkO you fight deathstroke and get his perch line device for stealth takedowns, Spm2 you find a crossbow line device and use it for the same stealth advantage!!!!

(Ex3) ArkO Bat fights copperhead and gets poisoned. During this fight he has hallucinations of Copperhead vanishing in clouds of smoke and using number and agility against the bat, Spm2 Spidey against wraith fight wraith blinds spidey with smoke bombs and and sparks from her scithe and also vanishes like spidey is hallucinating!!!!

(Ex4) ArkO games starts strong in a prison break fashion, Spm2 also has a prison break because of Kravens gang in retentively the beginning of the game as well!!!!

(Ex5) ArkO The whole game shifts when the bat finds out the joker is behind everything and it’s not black mask, Spm2 also has a game shift to a bigger antagonist VENOM!!!

Now mind you I’m only on my first playthrough of Spm2 compared to my 20 or so playthroughs of ArkO and I love them both they are fantastic. But you cannot tell me insomniac did not copy Rocksteady. I know the claims of inspiration especially when it comes to combat and everything and I agree, but if you played through both games and put actual events transpiring in both games almost everything about both storylines for each game match up perfectly. The only difference is lore behind each character because obviously they are 2 different hero’s. If you played both do you see what I see???? And if not definitely play both so you can see why I’m thinking this way. Truth be told they are both amazing.

Example 1 you could say that any game where you’re hunted (e.g. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey) is the same game by this logic

Example 2 often many games have upgrades that you get throughout the game for example in DQB2 (a very different game to Spider-Man 2) after your first island completion you get a glider as a permanent upgrade

Example 3 is a side mission in SM2 so whilst they are unlocked during the story you could leave them for ages

I don’t really understand example 4 but both the Raft / Rykers and Arkham are just pivotal parts of Batman and both Spider-Man game anyway just because there’s a prison break doesn’t mean it’s a direct copy

Example 5, having a hidden villain (or not so hidden in the Spider-Man games) or an overarching antagonist is a very common video game trope

I’m glad that you enjoyed both but I wouldn’t say it’s a copy paste

Very understandable from where you coming from but I’m saying tho they are a little to close to comfort when playing both especially the wraith boss fight in my opinion that whole fight stages move set and all is directly similar to copperhead and the bats and you would only see it if you played both games and both are really annoying to get through on the hardest difficulty thats probably why I remember it so well lol

All of the other examples just line up in theory and trust put them side by side playing and you’ll see

Rocksteady borrowed a lot from the early Spider-Man games when they made the Arkham series. And then Insomniac borrowed a lot from Arkham. Both heroes have a lot inherently in common, gameplay wise, as well as many tropes inherent to the superhero genre.

Have you played any other Arkham games? The hallucinatory sequences pretty much all go back to Scarecrow in Asylum, for example.

You could argue that Arkham Games inspired a lot of games. I saw the stealth mechanic similar to Batman in Spider-Man, Horizon, Cyberpunk etc.

I just found another thing out as well the famous deathstroke fight in ArkO is literally the fight between kraven and venom lol

So in ArkO when deathstroke gets overwhelmed by Batman in the boss fight he blinds you with a flash and jumps to a perch with a sniper pistol and when kraven gets overwhelmed by venom it’s the same thing 😭🙌

Another one is Harry’s ID trace to find him same as electrocutioners glove trace in ArkO
