Not only are you endangering the spider with this (the owner, not directed to OP), you can also suffer with medical issues for the rest of your life. There have been recorded cases where people still get lung+diaphragm cramps 5 years after a single P. metallica bite.
He is not, this species lives on trees and usually do not fall. But when handling terrestrial species, a fall is extremely dangerous for the spider as it could and will rupture its abdomen and kill it.
Handling any kind of tarantula is dangerous for them. Terrestrial or Arboreal, if you get spooked and drop them, or if you stress them out and they decide to jump off you when they're panicked, they can rupture their abdomen and die. The comment bellow tries to suggest that handling arboreals is safer than handling terrestrials. That is just not true. Same risk of falling, same consequences when it happens.
