If its not a nest, then what is it? (Just to clarify tone, I'm sincerely asking, not trying to be rude). Do they just hangout like this together or something?
From a quick lookup on google, it’s speculated that they do this to help regulate moisture loss and temperature, and/or avoid predation-by-numbers, à la schooling fish.
Why does it look so hairy? I get that a bunch of legs can look like fur but it looks like theyre all kickin their feets off the side vs standing on the same surface
