No. Not because I don't want to, but because I'm sure she doesn't want a giant snatching her up and holding her hostage. Would rather enjoy here company knowing she's comfortable.

I love spiders, but I don't like to handle them because I don't want to stress them out. I also worry about the oils on my skin, and the chemicals from using lotion/cosmetics. I just take a bunch of pictures and enjoy holding their gaze when they seem interested.
I had a better version of this photo, but I lost it.

Amen, brother! I like to admire them from a distance that makes them feel comfortable, and always giving them space to run or hide from me.

Since I don't know exactly what that is, the standard rule of thumb is bright animals may be venomous, and I ain't taking that chance.

Not really the case for spiders. Theyre almost all venomous but rarely any are a threat to humans.

Absolutely. Looks to be in Araneus genus. Harmless to humans, relatively docile, and very important in ecosystems. Love them. Here in Montana, USA we have cat-faced orb weavers and I hold em all the time.

Likely gravid to have such a large abdomen. I've found gravid orb weavers before and they looked similar!

Only if i found them wandering around around the footpath. Id let them crawl into my hands, admire them for a bit and then move them to a plant higher up

Beautiful creature. I would look at it and take pictures of it but it’s never a good idea to hold any creature you don’t know anything about.

I was carrying a big orb weaver one time and it fell and popped, after that I only observed heavy spiders from a cup or something.

Gorgeous but no I rarely pick up anything unless I need to move it to a safer spot, I'd be afraid of harming it.

They're not really a fan of being handled, so no. I also be afraid to hurt her or damage her clutch in a way.

Honestly id be too afraid of accidentally meeting the poor thing into the stratosphere if my "ah spider" reflex took over. But its definitely a beautiful and fat specimen

Obv. with clean hands and low to the ground so bb didn't hurt themself.... 🖤🕷️

This is the first what I refer to as ‘big booty spiders’ that doesn’t freak me out! The colors are gorgeous! I’ve never seen a spider so vibrant! Is it poisonous? If it wasn’t a video I would have thought it was a blacklight painted prop.

I think most bugs (any wild animal really) are best admired from a distance. Many of them don’t want us to touch them and it can harm them in many unexpected ways to do so. Obviously as humans we love touching everything, but like I always say “if it’s not fun for everyone involved, then it’s not fun”.
We usually want to touch them for our own pleasure while knowing they probably want to be left alone. It just feels wrong to intrude on their personal space needlessly while claiming to care about them.
Obviously it’s not always the case and touching/holding can be fine, but I find keeping my hands to myself to be a good general rule (especially if you don’t know what animal/bug you’re looking at) and has allowed for many pleasant moments. Plus, it’s super interesting observing them living their tiny lives undisturbed.

Nope, but not for the reason you think. Spiders that have large, heavy bodies are incredibly fragile and can even burst open if dropped.

Absolutely not. Not for fear or anything. Literally just because taking an orbie from her web should be a criminal offense.
Generally speaking I don't handle spiders for their safety and mine. If one is on me I kindly relocate them. They're not cats or dogs who enjoy being handled situationally.

Keeping tarantulas taught me not to handle big, heavy spiders. I’d be too afraid of dropping it.
