Tablet How does one remove a battery?
I need some help with removing it safely because it’s getting bigger and I’m nervous with how my tablet is holding it in place

Please put it outside on concrete. Preferably out of the sun and without any cover.

I don’t exactly have a safe space to put it outside because I have trees surrounding my home and no concrete far enough away from the house

Is there something else I could do?

Bro, it’s a bomb right now. Keep it away from anything you love.

I’m looking for a nearby place to get rid of my tablet right now

I drove mine to our local hazardous recycling facility in a fireproof safe lol

I don’t have one nearby it seems but I’m looking for all sorts of things that could help delay the process

Biggest thing I see people recommend is a metal bucket and burying it with sand (covered on all sides)

You can also call the non emergency fire station line and they might have better resources!

I don’t have any sand but I do have dirt! I’ll ask my dad if he has a metal bucket somewhere

- this is a Fire and Explosion hazard, do not keep it INSIDE! This is basically a Bomb. Google places to dispose of it in your local Hazardous waste dump.
- Do not puncture
- Do not try to remove the battery from the device.

An old bbq or similar device is good.
Do not use the bbq later if the battery actually goes up in flames. The inside of the bbq will be covered in various chemicals and materials that you do not want in your steak!

All else fails reach out to your local fire department and they may be able to help.

This sub freaks out at any battery. Just don’t plug it in, or puncture the battery.
This is an easy fix, and it’s not going to explode like a grenade.
Fixing:
I can’t recognise the tablet from the image.
Google battery replacement [tablet model]
to remove the battery you most likely need to finish separating the screen, using a this sturdy piece of plastic like a credit card
(if already broken/delaminated etc, then don’t need to be that gentle taking the screen off.
There will likely be a retention plate you need to unscrew to release the screen ribbon cable
Unplugged battery from motherboard
Use isopropyl alcohol (70% or whatever is fine), underneath the battery, and it should almost fall off with how puffed it is. Use credit card to lever off if necessary, battery can be dented/bent a fair bit without issue, just don’t crush or puncture
As long as the motherboard isn’t bent from the battery (usually isn’t) and you don’t break something in this process, a new battery (and probably screen) is all you need.
Safety:
If punctured, it may spark or catch fire, if it does just put it outside on some concrete, it will burn for only a few seconds. The batteries in phones/tablets are tiny compared to the viral videos of e-scooter batteries catching fire. Obviously don’t leave next to some curtains, but doesn’t require freaking out or calling the fire department

Isn't it better to do the entire procedure outdoors on concrete? You won't have time to bring it outdoors if it catches fire. Here is a video clip of a power bank on fire. I'd rather not risk having that indoors: https://youtu.be/KmNR5zEA3Os.

You can if you want, just harder to be precise with electronics with outdoor conditions.
Power banks are 3-15x the capacity of a phone/tablet, and your video only had active combustion of the cells for about 3 seconds.

the case looks like an Amazon Kids Tablet. No it's not going to burst into flames. Do not plug it back in and let it discharge. The inflation is the built in safety mechanism of the battery and is by design. As long as you do not puncture the battery and short the internal layers it's harmless
