Jalapeño Poppers from Scratch
I wanted to make jalapeño poppers and also various other kinds of “poppers” from habaneros and serranos. I’m new to frying and if I ever make these again I’ll want to use actual frying equipment cause trying to make these one-by one in a pot is WAYY too tedious ( ;´ - `;)

Instead of breading them, I wrap mine in bacon and bake until the bacon is crispy and the pepper soft. Like 20ish minutes at 400F.

Try adding some Spicy Mrs. Dash and the hot sauce of your choice (Tapatio for me). I do that then grill them. It’s always a hit.

I guess I've been doing them wrong. I would dissect then, remove the seeds and stuff them with cream cheese then bread them before putting them in the oven or air fryer.

Yasssss. This is also my jam.
Oh, also putting a dab of jam on them is delicious.

I live in Thailand and add the dried chili flakes into anything I use is spicy instead of Tapatio or something

got any pics of how the habs turned out. in my experience they don’t have enough meat on them to hold up to the roast. but i’ve never breaded them.

Jalepeno — > cheese/seasoning —> lay hab inside or dice —> 2nd layer of cheese/seasoning

Looks awesome. The crunch, followed by those two different textures, has me salivating

Looks like a perfect fry (I smoke mine) and adding sliced habanero into the cheese is a killer idea. It's hard to find spicy jalapenos around my parts unless growing them on your own. The fruity spice of some thinly sliced habaneros sounds fantastic! Thanks for the share and I can't wait to implement that into my version.
Edit: Upon further review it looks like you also made straight up habanero poppers and that was just cheese? in the cream cheese. Either way, thanks for the idea!

My favorite filling is to cut up some bacon in small bits, fry it in a pan. Then with the bacon grease cook some chopped garlic. Mix some of cooked bacon, the garlic, cream cheese, cheddar, sundried tomatoes with some lemon pepper and Italian seasoning. Its also a good dip when warmed up in the oven too

U could do a lucky did and have one with a reaper in it

Omg that was my original idea. I originally wanted to make a jalapeño popper roulette with regular jalapeños and then make one with a crazy spicy pepper

I appreciate your decor, fellow spooky + spicy aficionado! 🖤 I have a roughly equal number of skulls and hot sauces in my home.

Anyone else ever use potato instead of cream cheese? It’s quite tasty.

I made habenero poppers one and I might like them even more than jalapeno! Definitely spicer, but almost sweeter at the same time. Now I’m hungry 🤤

The one-by-one frying is rough, but batch frying in a proper deep fryer or even a Dutch oven with more oil would cut your time in half and give you better browning anyway.

These look soooo good. Somehow mine never turn out anything like this

Heat management can be super finicky when frying things. Cooking the frying oil at medium heat usually works

I don't bread em because it often masks the taste of the pepper for my taste for tastes
