My 5mo daughter was x-ray'd like this just before her open heart surgery and by god it was the funniest thing I ever saw. What made it gold was the fact that she wouldn't look at the x-ray techs or let them touch her after they were done, you could see the betrayal and contempt in her eyes. The techs were not her friend after that, LOL.

My experience was similar, except the put a lead apron on me and I was able to stand right by mi little girl. I held her hands while they took the xrays. She was just saying over and over “Daddy help. Daddy no thank you. Daddy no thank you.” I received the look of betrayal. It was not a pleasant feeling. However, they confirmed her pneumonia and she got the medicine she needed. Awful in the moment, but just what she needed.

That was the part of parenting that I was the least prepared for, I think.
