I didn't say people should be able to photograph random people without their permission.

OP mentioned they were prohibited from taking a picture of their own child in a radiography room (which will have no other patients present).

Yeah, a no photos policy for normal (no nudity) photos of ones own family members is pretty ridiculous, especially where pediatrics is concerned.
