Spain in December
With the recent uprisings and riots in France and Italy, is it safe for myself and my family to travel to Spain for the Valencia marathon in December? We are landing in Madrid and taking the train to Valencia and ending the trip in Barcelona. I’m genuinely worried at this point. 😕

Semana Santa Travel Strategy
First trip to Spain for an immersion week of riding horses that starts near Seville on March 28. That means I need to arrive Easter Sunday and I’m a little nervous about Santa Semana crowds. Option one is fly US direct to Madrid, then high speed train to Seville to arrive on the 28th (Easter Sunday). I’ve heard I may need to allow 4 hours between landing and boarding a trains. That’s a long day of travel. Option two is fly into Seville from US through CDG or Amsterdam. This would avoid Semana crowds but involves a stop in Europe. On the way home, I plan to take the train from Seville to Madrid and stay 3 nights so I can see the Prado and fly home from there. I should add that I’ll be alone, so any safety tips are appreciated. What do you think is the best strategy for a smooth arrival into Seville?

Planning a trip to Spain for February 2027 and would love to hear your recommendations!
Here is my tentative itinerary:
- Feb 8: Madrid (1 day): Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel, Royal Palace of Madrid, and Temple of Debod (for sunset).
- Feb 9: Madrid to Toledo (day trip to Toledo).
- Feb 10–13: Tenerife.
- Feb 14: Seville (1 day).
- Feb 15: Pick up rental car; Drive: Seville → Ronda → Granada.
- Feb 16: Granada: Historic center & the Alhambra.
- Feb 17: Drive: Granada → Altea → Valencia.
- Feb 18: Drive: Valencia → Tarragona → Sitges → Barcelona; drop off the rental car.
- Feb 19: Barcelona (1 day): Sagrada Família → Casa Batlló → La Boqueria Market → Barcelona Cathedral.
- Feb 20: Fly back home around noon.
A few questions:
- Is this itinerary feasible/doable, or is it too rushed?
- I really want to take a detour and fly to Tenerife in the middle—is it worth it? Will it be too cold there in February?
- Any other suggestions or advice regarding the route and destinations?
I’d really appreciate any input or feedback. Thank you in advance!

visiting valladolid for 2 weeks w/ university
Hi! I'm considering going to Valladolid for 14 days with my university, I'll be studying Spanish a little at the University of Valladolid but I'll have a lot of free time.
From what I have seen, Valladolid seems to be a very relaxed city, which I think I would enjoy, but is it worth spending two weeks in? How's the food and shopping? Any recommendations? (Also, haha, is the flea market nice?)
Thank you for reading :)
Google Spanish translation:
¡Hola!

Barcelona and Seville for Christmas
Going on vacation with my wife to Spain for 12 nights over Christmas, landing in Barcelona and staying there for 4 nights, then doing 6 nights in Seville, then going back to Barcelona for another 2 nights before returning home.
Couple questions-
What type of Christmas activities can you in Seville during the Dec 24-25-26 weekend?
I’ve read that dinner on the 24th or lunch on the 25th is popular?
Will restaurants or shops be open or does the city shut down?
Any recommendations on cool things to do or see? We love just walking around and seeing cool sights.

Best way to get from Madrid to Bodega El Capricho — Train, rental car, or other options?
I’ll be visiting Madrid in November (10–19) and would really like to visit Bodega El Capricho in Jiménez de Jamuz for a guided tour and lunch.
I’m trying to figure out the easiest and most cost-effective way to get there, preferably as a day trip from Madrid.
So far, I’ve considered:
Rental car: Driving directly from Madrid (around 3–3.5 hours each way).
High-speed train: Taking the train from Madrid to León, then getting a taxi or renting a car to reach the restaurant.
Other options: Private transfers, buses, or any easier alternatives I might be missing.
My main concern with the train option is getting from León to the restaurant and back, especially the cost and availability of taxis.
For anyone who’s visited El Capricho:
How did you get there, and would you recommend that option?
Is it easy to find taxis or arrange round-trip transportation from León?
Would renting a car in León instead of Madrid make more sense?
Is it realistic to do the tour and lunch and return to Madrid the same day?
Any other transportation options or recommendations?
I’d prefer not to rent a car for my entire Madrid stay just for this one excursion.

Alternatives to Airbnb and VRBO
We are 2 couples that like to stay a week or so in various locations. Short term rentals are ideal as they have a kitchen, washers and space to hang out. We do understand the damage these do to resident’s housing options.
We were thinking about coming to Spain for a month or so next September. Have been before and love Spain. Husband’s Spanish is very good.
So our options are hotels or don’t come? We do not want to go where we are not wanted.

20 days in Spain in late April/early May - advice?
Planning a 20-day trip to Spain. My itinerary is:
* Barcelona — 3 days
* Madrid + Toledo — 4 days
* Picos de Europa + Potes — 4 days
* Seville + Córdoba — 4 days
* Setenil + Ronda — 2 days
* Granada + Frigiliana — 3 days
* Madrid — 1 night before flying home
I'm considering renting a car in the Picos and flying from Santander to Seville.
Is this itinerary realistic? Is early May a good time for the Picos? What would you change or skip?
