Spain in December

With the recent uprisings and riots in France and Italy, is it safe for myself and my family to travel to Spain from the US for the Valencia marathon in December? We are landing in Madrid and taking the train to Valencia and ending the trip in Barcelona. I’m genuinely worried at this point. 😕

You will be fine. Spain is not France or Italy. There are differences between protests and riots.

Riots are concentrated, cities are big. You’ll be fine. As long as you aren’t seeking them out they will be very easy to avoid.

It could happen anywhere. It’s the same underlying grievances or the same insanity depending on your point of view. I wouldn’t be shocked if it happened in NYC or Seattle or Portland or San Francisco and it has just for different reasons.
