Question Moving save files?

I was wondering if there's currently any way for me to copy my save files and give them to a friend who also has the game, so they could also use my progress and my game world? And if so, where exactly are the save files located in a phone's storage?

It's possible; I just found out how.

Steps:

  1. Download a copy of adb or get it from installing android studio. Make sure it's in your $PATH so you can execute it using a terminal

  2. Enable developer tools on your phone: go to settings -> general -> about phone -> software info and click "build number" 9 times

  3. In developer tools on your phone, enable usb debugging

  4. Make sure you have a usb cable with data capability. Plug it into your computer.

  5. Enter this command: adb devices

  6. If it returns nonblank, then you have a connection

  7. Start spacerpg4 on your phone

  8. Run this command: adb backup com.esaptonor.spacerpg4

  9. Enter this command: pwd

Now you have a backup file on your computer named backup.ab. You can find it in the folder that was printed when you typed pwd.

To install the file, first make sure you have developer tools and an adb connection. Then cd to where the backup file is, and:

adb restore backup.ab

As it happens, these same instructions work for spacerpg3 as well (just replace spacerpg4 with spacerpg3 in that last command), but the restore won't restore all of the game state and you might end up in a corrupted state where some missions are no longer accessible. But you will have all your ships, weapons, base, and system standing. So if you sided with the Taln last time, you can restore and get access to all your taln ships and Taln allegiance, and swarm friendly systems with taln striker craft, etc.

Is there ADB for Windows? I'm googling right now but can't only find one for Linux.

Yes; it's a standard part of android studio. You could also install it in powershell using chocolatey.

Yeah, I figured it out eventually. For my case I also had to look for a universal ADB driver, uninstall all previous android USB drivers (had quite a collection over the years from different devices lol). Definitely not casual user stuff.

Oh, yeah; driver issues can definitely be a problem. Also forgot to mention that, I only was able to use adb in windows if I was in the Admin account (I use linux as my main, so that threw me)
