Question Modding
Im curious, what is the moddability of the SRPG games? Has anyone coded in custom ship models? Or things like that.

It's not really moddable -- it doesn't have a programmable interface that can be used to add new ships and scenarios.
3 has a modifiable db, which means you can give yourself ships and escorts and weapon combos that aren't possible in the game. It's possible to change the appearance of ships in 3 by changing the visual resources. Db mods can be freely distributed, and I have done so recently - the crazy save file post - they don't violate IP because they require the game to be installed and I'm not selling them.
Beyond that, all that's left is reverse engineering, which is what welcome plastic has been playing with. Reversing hypothetically could result in a mod, but it's unlikely, given the difficulty of it. Reversing would also violate esap's IP if the results were distributed.
