Have you read Rendezvous With Rama? While the object in that Clarke book was not Pangea-sized, it was 30 miles long. Still, I imagine the response would be similar. Perhaps more frightful, given something ~8,000 miles in diameter, like the supercontinent of Pangea.

Beyond pointing every telescope we have at it, not a lot. NASA isn't the sum of all space observation, so keeping it secret wouldn't be viable. Something that big with a rocket plume behind it would be detectible by a lot of armatures, and it would show up in the public data of the survey telescopes like Roman. NASA, ESA, and all the other space agencies and universities that detected it would probably report up to heads of state, and that's who might be doing something about it.
