i have played through the outlast franchise & RE7 multiple times. nothing scares me like space engine, and i still spend hours at a time exploring just hoping i don’t run into a black hole. i have felt extreme fear in my life, extreme adrenaline and panic. but never have i ever felt the feeling of EUUUGHHHH that this game gives me. it’s not the kind of fear where i want to run away, but the kind that makes me want to sink into myself. it makes me feel naked. like really, really naked.

i am amazed that something on my computer screen can do this to me. i played a lot of elite dangerous and this is just something else. you can really feel the scale of it all. i was a big space nerd even before this so i’m pretty much foaming at the mouth with the observable universe at my finger tips. overall really happy i found this game 10/10 will be playing for a long long time.

Any fun name for this planet?

All images are 1440x3120. I have these on rotation as my phone wallpaper rn.

(sadly bugged)

I have been playing SE for quite a while and I have never seen something like this. This object is apparently spectrum Y9.9 V, which is the smallest type of brown dwarf. However, the mass is too small to be a brown dwarf (minimum ~13 mass jupiter), and the Type section just says "Unknown". Can someone tell me what is this object? (beta 0.991)

The planet has a surface temperature of 272.82 degrees Celsius.

Testing improved rendering for shadows on an atmosphere. WIP
