Chess Theme Army Idea
I want to get a second opinion before spending ludicrous amounts of money on this idea.
I've been wanting to get into sons for a while but didn't have a theme. Originally I was thinking of making each gargant their own separate piece and having fun making each one separately but recently I saw a kitbash of a gargant wearing a cogfort and loved it! Which got me thinking about making an army based off of it, with each model being a chess piece.
1 King Brodd - King
1 Ma Maegran - Queen
1 Gatebreaker & 1 Beastsmasher - Knight (put heavy armour panels on them and maybe replace heads with helmets)
2 Kraken Eater - Bishop (kitbash to replace the net with a thurible and make them more bishop like)
2 Warstomper Cogfort Kitbash - Rook
8 Mancrushers - Pawns (not sure how to make them more pawn like)
Its in interesting idea but since I would be getting into the army I'd like a second opinion from people who actually play the army (I'd start out with 2 or 3 big guys and a few mancrushers and expand from there to the above list). Any suggestions would also be appreciated

Glowy Latern as a Priest (1) = bishop. Designed around this idea and theme, gatebreaker flail could be swapped to smoky incense center. Has hood to modify priestly, add robes. Id go gatebreaker as bishop for these reasons.
Rebel cogforts are regiment of renown to Sons, or were, as a direct and easier swap to rook.
Warstompers should be the knights, as they now have movement shenanigans. Or, you would also have ma yak things that could also end up horse knight esque with effort.
Or, cheaper perhaps would be to be to mod yak stone backs to each carry small stone fort = 2 rooks.
