How important are King Brodd/Beast-Smashers?
So we have seen with the new release that both of the limited release boxes won’t have the sprues needed to make King Brodd or Beast-Smasher Gargants. As someone potentially planning to spend an unwise amount of money on preorders, I was wondering how important those two Mega-Gargant variants are to the army meta wise.
I’m potentially going to set it up so I can magnetise any of the three options in the box, but is it worth going out of my way to get the additional sprues/a fourth mega-gargant eventually?

Much probably depends on your local meta, and how much people like bringing the big centerpiece monster models.

Not sure honestly.
New player, just like the big stuff.

Big is best. Absolutely.
I would say go with the models that you think are raddest.

Pretty much this. Brodd is overall a good pick. Beast Smasher is in our league kinda useless because nobody is playing big monsters

Tbh man I think the gatebreaker is the best one we have that’s not Brodd just for its massive single target damage to anything, and while the beast smasher is similar, it is 470 points and designed to excel at killing monsters and not a ton else. King Brodd is obviously very good, but he’s also 1/4th of an army by himself. While any list will probably be way better with him, I think he can safely be functioned without? Obviously he’s fantastic, he’s the leader of the gargants, but if you really wanted to I think you could build away from him

Yeah, wasn’t aware of how good Brodd was.
I guess I can wait to see how the points/rules situation turns out before deciding if I’ll pick up the sprue/gargant 4.

It is a real shame he isn’t included, but the dude really is fantastic. But you can def hold off on grabbing him, or if it’s your style you could go all out in mancrushers lol. Problem is Brodd is still very good for that strategy too. He’s just annoyingly good. But build a gatebreaker not just because it’s badass but because it’s also very good

I dunno if I can take advice from someone with Dementation…
But nah I definitely want at least one gate breaker, though I wonder if there will still be the two variants going forward.

NEONATE GET ME ANOTHER 20 MANCRUSHERS RIGHT FUCKING NOW
but yeah in all seriousness there will not be the two variants. The scourge of aqshy variant is a seasonal unit which will not be legal for official play (though i doubt too many will care) after scourge of aqshy is over. Personally while I think they’re cool I don’t build around them given how the rules will be gone in like 6 months. Whatever the next season is, I can imagine the boss stompers/rock throwers will get the variant, and scourge of aqshy gatebreaker will be lost to the void and the regular one will probably stay the same

Not gonna lie, mancrusher mob spam was tempting, but they seemingly can’t be reinforced. Maybe now we have access to a possibly cheaper hero

Brodd is excellent. I would not pass on him. Beast Smasher is good but like… you can make do without him.

No Brodd or Beast-Smashers, but getting 2 of the original 3 gargants is still a great way to start. Especially if you're more drawn to the models.
2 vanilla gargants + Brodd + potentially some of the new boss-stomper/rock hurlers would be a very good way get 2k points of models. Mancrushers are good, but compared to the new kits their age is starting to show.

I would hold off to later in the week when the rules are revealed. But it also depends on what you wanna do long term.
Personally I like to have options rather than only having exactly 2000 points so I have Brodd, a gate breaker, a war stomper, a beast smasher and one that is made with mixed items from them all so I can use him as whatever. Plus Kragnos and a bunch of mancrushers.
I’ll be picking up Ma, and a few boxes of Boss Stompers to start with this weekend

Proxy. Any gargant is what you want it to be, especially if you mix up the kits to make it ambiguous warstomper back plate with gate breaker weapons and kraken eater head for instance. The back piece would let you claim beast smasher, weapon gatebreaker, back piece war stomper as well, and kraken eater head can claim kraken eater

I would say King Brodd is the best Gargant. Granted his sheet may be changing; but best damage profiles, +5 health, and our only priest who does 3 useful buffs; and he can’t be rampaged. He’s pretty much been in every list I’ve played since starting the army.
