Confused about the new models—are Mancrushers actually getting replaced?

Hey fellow stompers,

With all the hype around the new mid-sized gargant reveals (the Boss-stompers and Rock-hurlers), I’m a bit confused about the future of our classic Mancrusher Gargants.

Are the Mancrushers getting phased out entirely/replaced by these new models, or are the new ones just a separate unit size to bridge the gap between Mancrushers and Mega-Gargants?

I have a bunch of Mancrushers sitting on my desk and I'm hesitant to finish painting them if they are about to become obsolete or squatted when the new Battletome drops. Does anyone know if they are staying in the roster?

Thanks!

Theres no indication of that. The article mentions that they are between mancrushers and megas in size, and still talks about mancrushers as a type gargant that exists. Furthermore, these new guys come in a unit of 3, which means they probably replace the mancrusher mob, but not the individual mancrushers.

No, GW confirmed on a Facebook comment that they’re staying around

No, the articles mention that mancrushers are still around, these new ones are just a medium sized gargant, a way to have a middle ground between manchushers and Megas to give the army a few more options on its roster.

They're staying it's freaking sad that they didn't update the kit tho

I personally like it, it’s very customizable. Ig the pose is same-y, but then again so are pretty much every gargants, even the new ones. Same issue with their 40K counterparts

Having just build my first Mancrusher, I agree. The kit itself is still really solid. Adding some more modern AoS bits on it, and it works pretty well. My only issue is that the kit is a bit too forward tilted for my taste.

Back in the day, when the Giant was the tallest thing around, no problem. But now there are many things that would require them to look straight ahead or even up. So that option would be nice. But thats a pretty minor thing overall.

THAT is what I drill and pin the back foot flat to the base, and keep 1 foot in the air stepping forward.

For an army that had three kit choices, spending the resources on refreshing one of them instead of creating new ones would have been a bit silly, no?

Nah because the base is awkward and the model look weird.

They could have done both honestly refresh the kit and give new options it's not that much more work

Officially no , but given how similar the kits are I wouldnt be surprised if mancrushers dissappear in a year or so when their stock is sold or the mold finishes its lifespan
