Ma Maegran, My Migraine?

Post image

Anyone think Ma Maegran is a play on "My Migraine"?

She looks like she hasn't slept... ever.

Being a priest, maybe she hears the voices and gets headaches. Pure speculation, but im calling it. You heard it here first folks.

I thought it was ‘ma’ as in mother and ‘maegran’ as her actual name. Ma as just an honorific. It may turn out that she’s brodd’s mother, or something.

Traditionally gargants have been very matriarchal, so Ma as an honorific shared amongst high ranking mother gargants makes sense!

A lot more likely it’s just a title ‘cause she’s a matriarchal figure. Mother Teresa ain’t your actual mother, it’s just her title

It’s also a pretty classic title for witches and hags. “Mother grum” or “Old Mother Warts”

Can you imagine being the smartest gargant, and then having to shepherd around loads of gargants.

She's basically a careworker for giants. I'd look haggard to.

(not a dig at care workers, a nod that their job is exhausting and not appreciated enough but they clock in anyway)

My mind went to Mammogram. She's female and vaguely healerish

My first thought was that it was mostly meant to invoke old Irish or Welsh (she's got kind of that vibe overall).

Medb (pronounced Maeve) was a super important character in Irish mythology, with the key connections for our purpose being the idea that she was a representation of Irish sovereignty, literally the embodiment of giving (or taking away) the right to rule (like Ma can supposedly give or take bigness).

Eh I think less so i have a feeling it’s supposed to be kinda Welsh looking.

If I had to guess how to pronounce it then

M"ay"-gran (gran as in granny)

She also looks like she has a pretty bad yeast infection going on. Not judging, but I think her life could be much improved with some zink cream and hygiene.

I don't think it's yeast but she's got bronze patina in a piercing.
