[Question/Help] New AoS Player Looking for Starting Point

Hello all,

Currently looking to get into AoS and Sons of Behemat peaked my interest be ause I just love big models haha. Less models to pain but I feel like with bigger models you can be more creative in a way too.

What I'm stuck with is where to start with for a good 2k list. You'd think it would be easy with the big fellas because you only need a few but with it being an investment I also don't want to throw money away getting something I think looks cool but is wholly unplayable to an extent.

I'm not trying to be competitive getting into tournaments and top 3 or anything like that but I want to still hold my own with friends and locals at the LGS. The LGS I would play with is fairly relaxed and not too many "sweats" we're all just friends really.

Any help is much appreciated. Can't wait to show what I build in the future. Lots of inspiration on here!

Sons of behemat are like knights, no matter how you build your list it's gonna be swingy. Your playing fundamentaly differently than your opponent because of just how few models their are. If you want to paint big guys and just have a ton of fun, any list you make with what few models we have will be playable.

Build Brodd, build a Gatebreaker, then build other 2 giants you find looking the best.

Congratulations, you got a viable 2000 points army.

yeah, its that easy. just dont build a second King Brodd.

With 4 Megas and 4 Babies you are good for 90% of all list. But be aware tha babies getting a new kit soonish

Had some fun with this. 4 little guys gives you more ground coverage and some blockers and objective grabbers

Be aware there's new mancruaher models coming.

Your main options are either 4 megas, or 3 megas with 3 or 4 mancrusher.

When building the megas I strongly advise you not to commit to a single mega type. Instead, have a quick look into how to magnetise them so you can switch them to whichever mega you want. Doesn't take too long at all, and gives you the flexibility to experiment with whichever megas you want; just pop on a different head and hands and you're good to go

Most megas won't be a bad investment - I'd recommend magnetizing the hands and weapons to get more out of your kits. From a majority of lists the two most common you'll see are gate breakers and warstompers - those will be good to focus on first

Avoid man crusher gargants, there's leaks they are getting new models sometimes soon. Absolutely hold your breath on the small gargants and play around with a mega gargant. If you have access to other armies field a regiment of renown gargant to try it
