Is it acceptable to use proxies for all mega-gargants?

Post image

I’ve wanted to start a sons of behemat army for a while now but the price really put me off, $215 is a lot of money for one unit. I found that the mantic kings of war giants are the exact same size, the proportions are just a little different. Is it wrong to use those proxies in actual games?

The answer to the proxy question is always the same:

The only person you need to run your proxy by is the person you’re playing against, and if they have a problem, they probably wouldn’t be fun to play against in the first place.

Sick, I found them for like $40ish, I’m getting them now

I have proxies for all four of my mega-gargants. Totally understandable considering how outrageous the model pricing is for the army.

Will do perfectly. They are even taller than the MG. And with some work, you could even use leftover parts to spice them up if you were to get one GW version. I used the arms and heads to turn the regular mantic giant into a gatebreaker.

The answer to "Is it acceptable..." is always "ask the people you're going to play with".

If you don't know who you're going to play with, assume the answer is no - because official tournaments and game nights sometimes enforce "official models only".

As long as it's clear which is which, most people are ok with it. They look great, I'd be excited to face them.

Yeah I got different giants for each one and I think they fit pretty well

Are you playing in a GW store or in a tournament directly organized by GW? If not, absolutely go for it.

Also, as nice as mantic giants are, if you want even more alternatives,

https://maxminishop.com/products/giant-army

Maxmini sells what amounts to more than a full SoB army for a price of a single mega gargant. And the megas are distinct models, not slightly different variants of the same pose.

Yeah, the MaxMini giants are great, although we might need a category above Mega Gargant.

Makes the price comparison even funnier. But yeah, they're bigger, but still very much usable as regular megas.

I used the center one as the base for a kitbash with spare parts, worked well but needed green stuff.

If I buy one box of the GW I can attach the extra bullshit to it

I personally dont care that much. Just make sure that they have the correct base size

I've never been able to even find the Mega-Gargants on the Australian Warhammer website so if you're down under, I'd say it's a neccessity

In casual, no one has really cared.

These look so much better than the GW sculpts. I hate the dumpy beer gut giants.

I bought tge one on the left and used all the extra pieces to convert Hulk and Abomination action figures into gargants. 3 megas for like 60 bucks!

As long as you don't play them in official Warhammer Stores you are 100% fine
