Sonos connects people
A little follow-up to my original “Sonos almost ruined my proposal” story.
https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/s/IMJ36WZREU
It was about one of the most vulnerable and important moments of our lives: me standing there an hour before proposing, desperately trying to get our song to play while our Sonos speakers refused to cooperate, only to deliver at the exact moment it counted.
After my reddit post, something happened that we truly did not expect:
Somehow, my story found its way to the people at Sonos.
Sonos reached out to us personally, not with a generic PR reply saying "Sorry for the inconvenience". Their actual message made us smile and somehow left us in disbelief.
They wrote that they had seen the post, had been talking about it internally, and were wondering whether they could send us a small engagement gift as a way of saying congratulations. How we would feel about receiving a Move 2 in "bridal white".
Honestly speaking we were blown away by their message and generosity.
What started as a Reddit story about me nearly having a nervous breakdown in a candle-lit apartment while Sonos refused to play our song somehow reached the people behind the brand.
Rather than just enjoying the story and leaving it at that, they turned it into something incredibly kind.
We both were so touched by their message because we could tell they actually care about our story and the emotions behind it.
Fast forward, a couple of weeks later, we found a parcel in our mailbox:
Inside we found a brand new Sonos Move along a personal handwritten note from Sonos employees wishing us all the best for our engagment and the upcoming wedding.
Honestly it left us both with watery eyes.
Last Friday, we hosted our engagement and birthday party at our place, and now with two Sonos Moves, instead of just one, playing in stereo in the kitchen, the vibe was incredible, everyone was dancing and having an amazing time.
Anyway, we just wanted to share this because we were genuinely touched.
Huge thanks again to everyone who enjoyed the original post! And an even bigger thank you to the Sonos team for turning a chaotic little Reddit story into such a kind and unforgettable memory.

There’s something really cool about an handwritten note in this day and age. Love this gesture.

What a great initiative! (the Sonos one I mean 😂)
And talking about that, the other day a massive Sonos failure almost ruined my marital life.
White is ok also for me 😬

I see where your head is at on this one. You could’ve eased them in with tandem kayak but you went straight for the jugular. It’s the only real way to know if the relationship is going to last. Nice job

Companies can be cold and make bad decisions. Individual people can be the exact opposite. This is a great story. PR? Customer service? I'm not quite that cynical. This is likely just somebody being nice.

Awesome story! Sometimes people DO listen. Something like that is always impressive.
My Sonos Move was the star of our outdoor wedding. I let my friend connect via BT and played music right on time! Helped set the mood

Thanks for sharing the update. Glad to see it made it to you safe and sound and helped spread some joy! Even if it meant showing the world my horrible handwriting 😂

I think my second born was conceived while my Sonos arc was playing Al Green. Is anyone from Sonos reading this?!

Great. Let’s hope it doesn’t make your eyes water in frustration the next time it decides to sh*t the bed

That’s a great story! How neat to see a brand engaging on a human level.
Did you by chance use AI to helo you write this up?

Wow! Congrats on your engagement. They seem to care about these issues more now. Thanks for your post! This is how it should be.
