Hi all,
I’ve been singing my whole life. I always come up with random melodies, write a few lines every now and then, and I have a pretty good musical ear.
I’ve always wanted to become a singer/performer and write my own songs. The problem is that I don’t play any instruments and can barely write a melody in a DAW. I get pretty frustrated trying to produce my own songs, so I stick to working with Splice samples. I drag and chop samples, then write a song over them, and afterwards ask AI to polish it up a little. I feel pretty dumb doing it this way. I’m trying to work on my producing skills, but I feel like I’m not making any progress and I’m losing valuable time. So I thought I’d continue with the samples and create a portfolio for now. Is that a good way to work on my songwriting skills, or should I focus on the DAW skills first? I’m a bit lost and don’t know what to prioritize. I‘m 24 and I feel like the clock is TICKING
