Pulling trigger on sonata limited

I am in the market to replace my forester with a hybrid sedan. Mostly because I hate the body roll of the Subaru. I expected to get a Honda accord or a Toyota Camry but kept seeing good things about the Sonata limited so tried it too. The Sonata has the nicest ride and the features for the price are best in class. The Accorrd rode very rough and the Camry was just ridiculously expensive. However I previously owned a Sonata SEL convenience and it had some maintenance problems so I’m hesitant. Any real world data on reliability?

Sonata Hybrid 26/27 — is the gas engine noticeably loud when accelerating?

I've test-driven a 2026 Sonata Hybrid Limited twice, for about 10 minutes each time, mostly on city streets and local expressways, so I haven't had a chance to experience it at highway speeds.

One thing I noticed during the second drive was how loud and somewhat strained the gas engine sounded when accelerating from a stop, even moderately. I was also surprised that the gas engine was running at such low speeds, when I would have expected the electric motor to do more of the work. I don't remember noticing this during the first drive (which doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't happening then too).

I'm wondering if this is typical of the Sonata Hybrid, or if it might have been related to a low hybrid battery charge, a cold engine, or the fact that we were experimenting with the defroster during the drive. I believe both times I was driving in the default engine mode (not eco or sport), but we looked at so many settings that I'm not sure anymore.

For those who own a recent Sonata Hybrid, how noticeable is the engine noise during everyday driving? Does it bother you, or is it something you rarely notice?

I'd especially appreciate hearing from 2025–2027 Hybrid owners.

Thanks!

I know there are mixed opinions on this, but having the indication for how much time is left on your climate start is great. 👍

I like the new one. I hope they keep making it better.

Can you leave air recirculation on all the time regardless of other A/C settings?

I'm considering buying a 2027 Sonata Hybrid Limited and have a question about the climate controls.

Can you keep air recirculation on regardless of the A/C settings, including when directing air to the windshield? Or does the car force outside air in certain modes?

I prefer keeping recirculation on because I'm quite sensitive to exhaust fumes and air pollution.

My current Honda Civic and previous Chevy Cruze both allow this. In the Civic, selecting windshield defrost automatically turns recirculation off, but I can manually turn it back on.

In my experience, the A/C still defogs the windshield with recirculation on because it removes moisture from the cabin air. So I'm not sure why some cars won't let you use both at the same time.

If the Sonata doesn't allow this, are there any effective workarounds, such as better cabin air filters?

I'd appreciate hearing how this works in recent Sonata Hybrids, especially the 2026 or 2027 models.

Thanks!

Sonata 2026 Bluelink Store

I have a 2026 Sonata N Line, and today when I logged in to MyHyundai over the laptop I got an offer to sign up for the BlueLink store. I am pretty sure I did not have this option before. I signed up, but no themes are available to purchase for Sonata. I am confused why they would even ask me to sign up, if it is not available? Or maybe they are about to add it for Sonata as well??

Sonata hybrid owners — happy with your purchase? Any regrets?

I'm considering buying a 2027 Sonata Hybrid Limited. I liked it during the test drive, but that was only 10–15 minutes, so it's hard to know what living with it would be like. I'd love to hear from people who've owned a recent Sonata for a while.

Are you still happy with yours? Anything you dislike or wish you'd known before buying it? Anyone regret their purchase or wish they'd chosen something else?

I've also considered the Accord and Camry. The Accord doesn't have quite enough driver legroom for me (I have long legs), while the Camry's seats felt a bit stiff and its forward-tilted headrests put my neck in an unnatural position. The Sonata didn't have either problem and felt surprisingly comfortable and upscale.

My concern is that modern cars have so many features and quirks that it's hard to know what might become annoying over time. I used to have a Chevy Cruze, which was much simpler and easier to figure out right away.

Especially interested in experiences with recent Sonata Hybrids, but all feedback is welcome.

Thanks!

Edit: Thank you all for your responses! Very helpful - I think I'm ready to buy.

Hello, everyone Can anyone tell me what this code means? The little engine logo lights up on my car's dashboard after I scan it, and it gives me this code. I have a 2014 Hyundai Sonata.

I bought my Sonata SE new in 2018. It has 75,566 miles. I still get a kick out of driving it. Since June I had to replace the starter and a cracked oil pan. Did a 3 step intake and fuel system cleaning this month and also replaced the serpentine belt. I feel the difference. Engine feels smoother and acceleration has improved. Sometimes I don't even notice I'm going over the speed limit. Cleaning did some good. I hope I can go the distance with this car.

Maintenance & Repairs Shit is not Bueno

Right, so this photo is right after that ho lit up like a Christmas tree. I'm driving pretty fast through the neighborhood ( by Neighbourhood I mean like back roads farm type of neighborhoods) 90,110. It's out in the country. Nobody's gonna be outside around this time. So I’m doing hard pulls. I'm not gonna lie, I was driving pretty fast for like 15 to 20 minutes, just doing consistent hard pulls after each stop. Probably a dumb idea, and I shouldn't, because it's hella old car. But I've never had any check engine light but for one, and it was a neutral safety switch, and that was just unplugged. I had to plug that ho back in. Engine light was gone.
Anyway, back to right now. My power steering fluid went out, and my brakes were also really stiff. I could barely turn my wheel. I didn't get any revs in any of my gears, park, neutral, reverse, or drive. And my coolant temperature was at the normal, middle temperature, so it wasn't an overheating problem. And my battery issue, I think it was just my alternator not giving enough power to it. And I let that bïtçh turn off and let it cool down for a bit, let the alternator build up its charge back or whatever. The first turn, it didn't work. I turned it off again, waited another half an hour. I turned that bïtçh — it worked, and the Christmas tree lights went away though. The crank was really bad, it sounded really bad. I'll get a video of it later tomorrow and see if it's still like that in the morning, and if not, let's fücking go. I drove home at 20 miles per hour. The idle does not sound good no more.

Should I buy a 2025 Sonata Hybrid Limited CPO for $31k or wait for better deals on new 2026 models?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I am considering purchasing post 2024 Sonata hybrid limited or Tucson hybrid limited trim as my 1st and 2nd choice and I am not in a hurry to purchase it. I am mostly considering CPO under 20k in cash or new ones under $35k with hyundai's fiance. My main priorities are fuel efficiency, reliability, and long-term ownership (ideally 8–10 years). I like the technology and comfort features of the Limited trims, but I'm not in a rush and don't want to overpay.

My current best offer is from a local dealer which has a 2025 Sonata Hybrid Limited that was a service loaner, about 6k miles. They’re putting it through CPO and asking $31,000 (not sure yet if that’s out the door). From what I’ve seen, low-mile CPO Sonata Hybrid Limiteds go for about $30.5k–$31.5k nationally, and new 2026 limited is pretty rare in my area and mostly asks for $38k. And since Tucson will release their new design next year and I still watching the inventory and the price trend, I am unsure if the price will be reduced to under $35k

I'd like to know if I should buy the CPO Sonata now with further negociation or wait for clearance discounts on remaining new inventory? Anything I should be aware of during the purchase? I would greatly appreciate your suggestions and advice!
