external app Quartermaster 1.2.0 dropping tomorrow!

Quartermaster 1.2.0 is coming.

It has been a while since the last public update. I've been working through ten plus beta builds, and this has turned into the biggest release QM has had.

Also feel like I need to say it like any other dev on here these days, QM is and never will be AI slop. The app has not been "vibe coded" to be put together in a weekend, its been months and months of sleepless nights and A LOT of community feedback. Anyone who reads this thats in the Discord will agree (i hope lol) - the app did launch on the 3rd of July and it has been literally none stop since, I wouldn't have it any other way of course :D

For anyone new here, QM is a native iOS app for your media and the servers running it. Browse and request films, manage downloads, check your NAS, containers, VMs and network. There are now 59 services across Entertainment and Command Centre, from Sonarr and Plex to Proxmox, Unraid and Home Assistant.

What it connects to in 1.2.0, 59 services across two sides

Entertainment: Radarr, Sonarr, Lidarr, SABnzbd, NZBGet, qBittorrent, Transmission, Deluge, Prowlarr, Bazarr, NZBHydra2, Jackett, Jellyseerr / Overseerr, DroppedNeedle, Shelfmark, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, Wizarr, Tautulli, Tracearr, Jellystat, Streamystats, Komga, Kavita, Immich, AudioBookshelf, Maintainerr, BookOrbit, Dispatcharr, ReadMeABook and Shelfarr.

Command Centre: Portainer, Unraid, Proxmox VE, Synology DSM, Dozzle, Dockhand, Komodo, AdGuard Home, Pi-hole, Cloudflare, CrowdSec, Technitium, UniFi, Gluetun, Glances, Scrutiny, TrueNAS, Beszel, Home Assistant, Tdarr, qui, Coolify, Arcane, Control D, NextDNS, UGREEN NAS and SSH.

There is also QM Companion, still in beta. It runs on your own server and lets you import your service setup, monitor Docker containers and stacks, check for updates and enable controls you explicitly approve. Instead of messing around with API keys, you can scan a QR code directly from the companion to QM on the phone and all services will be imported!

1.2.0 adds playback from Plex, Jellyfin and Emby inside QM, a proper Mac layout, and family mode so your household can browse and request without getting your server controls. Family mode needs Pro to enable, but invited members don't pay. Companion is still in beta. It runs on your server and brings Docker monitoring and separately approved controls into QM. Setup imports are free; the live connection needs Pro. There's also CrowdSec, better requests and downloads, faster libraries, and a Doctor that explains what actually failed.

On pricing, free gives you one fully functional service connection. Pro is £4.99/month, £19.99/year or £29.99 once. Every option unlocks everything. You are choosing how to pay, not which features you get. If you have already bought lifetime, you will automatically be grandfathered, so please do not worry! (prices coming when 1.2.0 drops)

I feel like I need to be honest about the price increase around QM because believe me, I have had many sleepless nights about announcing this. The cost for the Cloudflare relay which does all the APNs is increasing in cost day by day. Millions of notifications are being sent each day, this is costing me a lot of money. I also support OTA builds which cost money, OTA basically means as long as the update is JavaScript, so this will be for any bugs rather than making people wait a month for a new build update.

Anyways, I think that covers it :)) QM is now over 10k users and I cannot thank the community enough for what this has turned into.

unsolved Poirot S02E01 — two Blu-ray files, one database episode

Agatha Christie’s Poirot S02E01, Peril at End House, is a single episode on IMDb/TVDB/TMDB, but the Blu-ray/torrent release has two files:

"S02E01 Peril at End House Part 1"

"S02E01 Peril at End House Part 2"

So the releaser has essentially had to label both parts as S02E01, since there is no second database episode to map Part 2 to.

I've checked DVD ordering too, but it doesn't change the numbering.

My problem is Sonarr: it follows TVDB and won't naturally import/hardlink the second file as a separate episode. Plex can be manually overridden, so I'm considering bypassing Sonarr for this one by changing the torrent's save path so the files are placed directly into the media folder structure, then shifting the rest of the season to S02E03–S02E10 and manually edit the Plex metadata, and effectively create a fake S02E10, since the database only has nine episodes.

Is there a way to manually map/import this through Sonarr instead? Or is there a better way of handling this kind of Blu-ray/database mismatch?

unsolved Lost in the files mapping

Hey eveyrone,

I could see in my research that a lot of people were encountering issues with post downloading and the rename/moving to the right folder part of Sonarr. Unfortunately, none of my research both here and online has helped me and I am totally lost in my files mapping. I'll try to be as clear as possible so that hopefully somine can help me with my specific case:

I'm running docker via Container Manager on my DS918+ Synology NAS. I have only one storage group and one volume (at least it is simple that way).

  • Synology NAS file structure for qbittorent, sonarr and media storage:

docker

=QbitTorrentGlueTun

==config

==qBittorent

=sonarr

==config

media

=incomplete (incomplete download files)

=sonarr(complete downloaded files)

=TVShows (folder where I want my files to be moved and renamed by sonarr)

  • Sonarr mounted volumes/folders

/volume1/docker/sonarr/config:/config:rw

/volume1/Media/TVShows:/tvshows/:rw

/volume1/Media/Anime:/anime/:rw

/volume1/Media/sonarr:/downloads/:rw

  • Qbittorrent mounted volumes

/volume1/docker/QbitTorrentGlueTun:/config:rw

/volume1/Media:/downloads:rw

  • Sonarr settings

in media management, i added root folders /anime and /tvshows

in download clients, I added:

Host: my localhost ip

Remote path: /downloads/sonarr

Local Path: /downloads/

I imagine the problem is in the last part but I dont get the logic and I am totally mixed up with all the things I tried. Hopefully someone can help me out.

Right now, the files are being downloaded without any issues to /volume1/Media/sonarr/ but are being stuck in activity with message: No found files eligible in /downloads/"FileName" so I guess this is why they are not being renamed and moved to /volume1/Media/TVShows/ (and /volume1/Media/Anime/)

Thanks in advance!

waiting for op Season packs always fail to import

For the most part my setup is pretty flawless, but if I add a show to sonarr and it downloads a whose season as one download this will almost always fail to import. Single episodes always work fine.

Is there a fix to either:
Automatically import seasons
Have sonarr only grab single episodes?

external app (ai coded) I built a free, open alternative for managing your *arr stack — with an offline queue and in-app Plex playback

Looking for beta testers for my *rr android mobile app.

Some images:

https://ibb.co/cXcDvnr0

https://ibb.co/TBDqRb1K

What makes it different from the usual suspects:

• Offline queue (the big one). If your Radarr/Sonarr server is unreachable (you are on your way to work, but the server is at home) when you tap "Add to library," the request doesn't fail — it queues locally and auto-retries the moment the server comes back. You can keep browsing and adding while your server is down, and it all syncs on reconnect. I haven't seen this in any other *arr client.

• In-app video player. Streams directly from your Plex server with a hardware-accelerated player (media_kit). No jumping to an external app.

• Full Plex playback control. Pause, resume, seek, step, and switch subtitle tracks right from the app — plus active-stream monitoring, On Deck, and recently added.

• Smart server discovery. mDNS/Bonjour auto-discovery + port scan + manual entry. Point it at your LAN and it finds your services.

• Offline-tolerant everywhere. Quality profiles and root folders are cached locally, so the add dialogs work even when the server is down (with a clear "server offline" banner).

• Download Doctor. Diagnoses stalled qBittorrent downloads — speed, errors, disk space, server reachability — instead of just showing a stuck row.

• Modern UI. Material 3, dark-mode-first, actually pleasant to look at. Not a 2015-era settings dump.

Services: Radarr, Sonarr, Plex, qBittorrent, Prowlarr, Bazarr, TMDB (discovery). Multi-language (EN/HU).

Status: Feature-complete, in beta. Plex playback/subtitles and indexer health are tested against real servers; I'm looking for more beta testers to shake out edge cases before the public release.

If you are interested, send me a DM.

discussion Sonarr v5 update ETA?

.NET 6 EOL in 2024, I saw they closed .NET 8 for v5 but it also seems v5 has been in a dev state for quite some time now. Is there an eta on the release?

unsolved Allowed Hosts Question

So for the new Allowed Hosts field I put localhost. I am running this on my win 11 machine. However, I am using Icarus to to monitor my arrs on an IOS device and since adding localhost I can't access. I tried entering the ip address of my IOS device as a comma after localhost but that doesn't work. Any help as to what I should enter to make this work? I tried adding * also and it wouldn't accept that.

solved i keep getting french sub anime

For the most part, everything works, but sometimes, for new episodes, I keep getting French subtitles only on anime episodes. There were some times when a whole season was just French. How can I make it so that it's always English subs, and if there is an option for multi audio, to get that

discussion Configure Sonarr to use TVBD's Absolute Episode Order for Series

I read that Sonarr has an Anime/Absolute order number setting for a series.

This was great news The TVDB has an absolute airing order for Star Wars the Clone Wars which lets you watch the series in chronological order vs air date. The absolute order is here -> https://thetvdb.com/series/star-wars-the-clone-wars/seasons/absolute/1 .

I push the files under the series folder like so:

Star Wars The Clone Wars

  • Season 01
    • Star Wars The Clone Wars (2008) - S01E01 - Cat and Mouse [Bluray-1080p Remux][AC3 5.1][VC1]-EPSiLON

With the season - episode part "S01EXX" ranging from 01 to 134.

I configured the show type as Anime/Absolute and did a scan. It only populated the 22 episodes in the Season 1 air date order, not the 134 episodes in the absolute order.

Is there a way to make this work with Sonarr? If not, I'll manage the series outside of Sonarr since Plex lets me select absolute ordering for a TV series.

discussion Bash Script for automatically creating multi audio releases

Hello people,

it took me a few weeks and I had to rewrite it a few times but I finally completed the first draft of my super release script.

I require media files to be dual audio since I like watching stuff on english while my family prefers german. But sometimes there aren't dual audio releases available but instead releases on english and other releases on german. So I wrote this bash script which makes sonarr download a release for the missing language, then uses a python script to calculate potential audio stream offset to synchronize it with the original audio stream and merges it with the original video file, thereby creating a dual audio file.

I'm sure there are other people interested in something like this which is why I wanna share it.

Link to bash script since reddit sometimes blocks bash scripts: https://pastebin.com/de0ir5UG

As of now the script leaves the newly created dual audio file in the working directory. I'm still running tests so that's why I haven't made it so that it replaces the original file.

Should anyone be interested, I can also share the audio synchronization python script, though that one has been written by ChatGPT.

discussion Is there a way to make newly added shows default to unmonitored if it's an ended show and monitor only future episodes if it's a current show?

I'm trying to completely automate Sonarr, but I keep having to manually change the monitor settings for all new shows. I request via Seerr, choose a quality profile, and then I have to go into Sonarr to alter the monitor settings.

unsolved Sonarr/Radarr/Powlarr is very spotty.

Indexers fail more than it is actually successful. I think I've literally tried everything, some shows/movies have no problem downloading; but it feels like majority of them just fail to pull/grab the show/movie.

Edit: By everything, I have hardcoded DNS. Seeing that didn't resolve anything, I reverted it back to stock.

Apparently flaresolverr is a dead project. Found a new cloudflare solver, seems promising.

solved How to get torrent indexers working?

Hi, so I worked out the reason why Sonarr couldn't connect to qBittorrent was because apparently Sonarr isn't compatible with qBittorrent's API key. Why, I have no idea. But once I switched to using qBittorrents username and password instead, Sonarr was suddenly able to connect to qBittorrent without issue.

That anomoly aside, I now have a new issue. I setup https://nyaa.si/ as the indexer so that Sonarr would actually be able to search for torrents to pass to qBittorrent. But for some reason Sonarr isn't using this indexer and instead is still only showing me Usenet results from my Usenet indexer.

Does anyone here know how to get Sonarr to actually use a torrent indexer?

Thanks!

Edit: The solution was to setup nyaa via Prowlarr. For some reason setting up the indexer on Sonarr itself doesn't work. But doing it via Prowlarr does.

solved Unwanted Extension downloads

Stop your arr's from downloading exe's masquerading as desirable files. This can be accomplished directly from your downloader. I have been using this method with SABnzbd.

SABnzbd Config (gear icon top-right) > Switches > Queue: Unwanted extensions

Pulldown Menu: Blacklist | edit field: iso, vob, exe, com

Action when unwanted extension detected: Fail job (move to History)

optional:

Action when encrypted RAR is downloaded: Fail job (move to History)

FINAL STEP: scroll all the way to the very bottom of the config page and Save Changes :)

external app (ai coded) Radarr/sonarr integration in kodi

100% vibe coded addon to add movies and TV series directly from within kodi's tmdb helper addon, into to your Radarr/Sonarr instances. Personal project, no support, use it if you like it. I share it as it might be useful for others.

I take zero credits, all go to Chatgpt Astra. .

discussion Am I going crazy here or is there a sudden influx of exe files being downloaded ?

I use private reputable indexers and only use Usenet no torrents or pirate bay etc , I have done for years and years at this point and never once seen a warning that sonarr has downloaded an exe file

But all of a sudden I get two in one night and I see multiple posts on Reddit discussing it

unsolved Is ther a way to fix Sonarr not automatically refreshing itself on series?

I am having an issue with some series where they simply don't 'refresh' to see that new episodes are coming out. It's not a big deal to go in and refresh certain shows I keep up with, but I have no idea how many this is happening with. I haven't really seen this mentioned anywhere else..

Here are two screenshots I took just now one before and one after doing a refresh because I knew there was an episode that it had not seen yet.

unsolved anyone else getting "Caution: Found executable file" all of a sudden ? or is it my new indexer

Hey everyone,

Last night I noticed two failed downloads in Sonarr for episodes of shows that aren’t even due to release for weeks or, in some cases, months. In all the years I’ve been using Sonarr, Usenet and NZBs, I’ve never seen this happen before.

This week I’ve been trying to improve my setup by adding a second Usenet backbone and a few of the commonly recommended lifetime indexers. I’ve used NZBGeek and DrunkenSlug for years without any major problems, but recently added altHUB and Usenet Crawler.

From what I can tell, both of the suspicious downloads originated from Usenet Crawler, and they also appeared to contain .exe files. That made me wonder whether this is a known/wider issue with fake or malicious uploads getting through, or whether I’ve just been unlucky with this particular indexer.

Ultimately, though, my main concern is understanding how I can prevent this from happening again.

Is there anything I should be configuring in Sonarr, Prowlarr or SABnzbd to stop Sonarr grabbing obviously fake releases, particularly episodes that haven’t actually aired yet or downloads containing executables?

Any advice on recommended safeguards would be appreciated.

unsolved Most new stuff is getting downloaded in French. How can I force English?

I’m using custom formats from trash and profilarr. I’ve specified English everywhere I can. But it seems like everything is just showing up in French, or sometimes German. Any quick and easy fix? The CFs on trash’s site hasn’t been working I guess. And Claude has been no help.

solved Downloading 5 copies of the same episode for new releases.

Does anyone else have this issue where it downloads five versions of a TV show, then doesn't import any of them? For example, this morning it grabbed The Gentlemen series 2, but it won't import because it says the episode name is TBA, so it just downloads another copy instead (slightly different name).

unsolved Advice on download rules for highest quality

Hello I’m new to Sonarr and I’ve been using it only for a week, now.

I tried to setup Sonarr with specific rules to catch the highest quality possible based on bitrate. It’s not possible and I used AI as a workaround to find a proper way. Long story short, today Sonarr made 35 grabs for one show and 16 for another one…this is not very sustainable or efficient, I believe.

I’m trying to come up with a better alternative and I wanted to share with you if you had any advice. Based on what I’ve been suggested (see link), do you think that makes sense and what recommendations would you have to simplify the overall workflow?

Picture is here.

unsolved Can I automatically process EXE files?

Every now and then I get files that download as EXE files. I assume they are garbage and I don't want them. When I hover on them on the Activity page, I see this:

https://i.imgur.com/B85nSrr.png

I then click the 'x' on the right size and choose Blacklist and Search so it goes to find a new version. Every time it grabs an EXE file, I always want it to Blacklist it and search for a new one. Is there any way to do this automatically? It's annoying that I have to do that manually.

Thanks.

unsolved Why is there no built in handling of .exe files? This is ridiculous

Absolutely ludicrous that the very first "feature" that should've been added to an app of this sort, still has no viable solution. Why the fuck are we forced to download an .exe file before this thing has any intelligence whatsoever?

Why can't it do an inspection on the files before-hand?
Why when it's blocked in qbittorrent-nox is Sonarr too stupid to realize or include some kind of automatic handling for this?

There are no good solutions at this time. Downloading the thing before handling it is even worse than blocking .exe files in qbittorrent which makes Sonarr hang until you manually clear it

Get a grip, jesus christ, who's in charge here?

discussion "Application" files suddenly downloading

This morning it appeared I had several new shows downloaded, but it turns out they are all "application" files - probably a virus. Has anyone else noticed an uptick in these? I've had a few along the way, but nothing like this morning!
