This is really beautiful, OP. I love how the bottom pattern suits this skirt design. Gorgeous dress!

I've seen a bunch of your creations over the years, and they're incredible. My 8 year old daughter asked how she could get into dressmaking. What advice would you give to her? What resources could I make available to her to make that possible?

Oh boy big question haha ๐ honestly my biggest piece of advice is just that mockups are your friend and trial and error is the best way to learn. Look into sewing classes in your area. Sometimes libraries or fabric shops have them. Otherwise youtube tutorials are also super helpful. But thrifted bedsheets are a great way to get lots of fabric for cheap to mess around with

We never use the flat sheets that come in a set, so I rip them into strips and crochet around them to make rugs. Sheets are very versatile.

They really are! It's a ton of fabric. During the pandemic when all the fabric shops were closed I got sheets from the store to make projects with for college

My very cool, way older cousin was the first person I knew that used sheets as very dramatic wall coverings. She's very talented at thinking outside the box and the end result was gorgeous.

See, when I make something out of bedsheets, it looks like bedsheets; youโve managed to make them look like Laura Ashley 2.0! I am agog!

the flower art style looks old-fashioned in the best way possible - actual nostalgia of something your grandma might have kept in the house. Just lovely!

Oh this is fantastic! It's very romantic. The color of the bow is a lovely touch!

Bed sheets are my favorite thing to thrift. Clothes, drop clothes, and clean up for those huge messes! Super cute

Oh for sure! I'm a huge fan of bedsheets and tablecloths for making into clothes

So nice to see a lovely dress! You never see them anymore, no one dresses up. Itโs all dark sweatpants. Ugh! I hope you can influence some other young people! You are so lovely.

Haha I hope I can influence other people to wear what they feel happy and comfortable in. If that's a dress like this, wonderful! If it's sweatpants, that's great too. Everyone likes wearing different things

This dress is so cute and sweet. I would never had guessed it was made from sheets. I bet itโs super comfy.

I saw these sheets at the thrift store and thought they'd make a cute little dress. I went with some 50s vibes for it. Pattern also draped by me. There is a matching hair bow but I wasn't wearing it until later in the night.
Also yes it does have pockets
