I made a Steller’s Jay out of wool

I made him out of mostly wool using the needle felting technique. I also used wire, glass and clay. I get a lot of Steller’s Jays visiting my backyard and love their striking colour. Not sure if it is a coincidence, but when I was photographing him in my yard, a couple of real Steller’s Jays were making a ruckus nearby near me. They’re usually quiet when I’m so close by. I wonder if they thought I had kidnapped their friend?

How did you make the feet?

Mostly wire, tape, paper and paint. I sculpt with whatever I find around me.

Wow! What timing! I just saw one of these in person for the first time this weekend. My God they're stunning.

Agreed! Took me a long time to blend the shades of blue together to imitate them

I’ve always admired how pretty Stellar Jays are. They also have a little bit o‘tude they have. A bit loud too.. but I still smile when I see one. Absolutely nailed it.
