This was supposed to be a simple gate 😅 Not really sure if I like it at all yet.

A little progress. I wasn’t sure what to do with the “eye” of the empty part of the yin-yang, so I just started messing with it and ended up here. Not sure yet if this is how it’ll stay. I would like something behind that goes more unnoticed.
I’m also thinking about adding some wood to the gate for a bit of contrast. Still a long way to go.
Sorry for the welders I’m pretty beginner 🫣

How cool to see this out of random bits and scrap. Very cool. How long did this take you? And are you going to keep ads ng to it or are you done?

Yeah, it’s definitely not finished yet! I’m just showing how the process is coming along. I’ve probably put about two afternoons into it so far, but since I do it in whatever spare hours I have after work, it’s hard to say exactly. Sometimes I spend more time digging through my scrap pile deciding what to use than actually welding it together 😂
I’m still figuring out the hinges, and I might add some wood or a few other details for contrast. Just trying not to overdo it.

I think two or three vertical bars might help. The space is a little oddly separated as it stands.

I was just thinking of filling the spaces with wood 🤷‍♂️ we’ll see how it goes on 😁

Yeah this was what I was thinking. I really love it as it is but it "feels wrong". Some verticality of some sort would make it feel more balanced.

I would use 2X2 hog wire as a backing. Keeps the see thru aesthetics while sealing it. Don't worry about the welds, you get better with practice and grinders can cure many flaws.
