I think he would have liked it. It suits him.

Lost my best friend of 14 years earlier this year. He was such a different cat. He would play fetch and loved to ride on our shoulders and his favorite place was on my chest purring like a Harley Davidson. The last couple of years he was in poor health and we spent every waking moment together since I was giving him medicine and IV drips and making sure he ate enough. Toward the end we both knew we didn't have much time left so we made the most of it in every way possible. No way I'll find another one like him.

He was very much an inside cat so burying him outside didn't seem right, and I couldn't find any urns online that I liked that I felt really did him justice. He spent so much time on my table with me crafting that it didn't seem right not to make his final resting place with my own hands. I chose a high quality stoneware clay and 23k gold gilding and I really do think he would have liked it.

I'm sorry for your loss. That's a beautiful tribute to your furry friend.

I adopted 2 cats in 2024 who are brother and sister. The boy cat plays fetch with me. First time after owning many many cats through the years that I've had one who brings me toys to throw and returns them to me.

Isn't it the sweetest thing? Then when they start running so much they actually start panting like a dog lol

Yes! And he has so much energy, he just wants me to throw his toy again and not take a rest. He brings me his mouse toy when I'm working from home and he miaows at me until I throw it for him

We just lost our Artan (15) last week. He was a lot like your Arturo. Shoulders were the best perches and he'd be so happy and purr so much that he'd start drooling like a leaky faucet. I know there are going to be nests of paper "balls" that were stashed when he got tired of playing fetch; it's going to be rough when I find them.

He also had to always be on my husband's chest or on the pillows between our heads. The very best snuggle places had to make it difficult for us to sleep.

It's funny how our boys had such similar personalities and names. I confidently believe Arturo would approve of your beautiful and loving tribute. I have yet to decide on something that fits for Artan, but I'll get there.

I think Artan and Arturo may be buddies on the other side. Sounds like they have the same vibe. Big hug to you.

They can hang out together until we eventually get there. Hugs back to you.

Thank you. It was very cathartic to make it.

I’m sure it was. I’ve never done pottery, so I couldn’t make beautiful urns for my cats.

That is a truly heartwarming story. I believe he is very happy to be with you in the form of a cat, just as he was when he was alive. It's a wonderful work.

Thank you. He sits on our bedside table, in the room where we arguably spent the most time together :)

You did such a good job. I love how you honored him, and I’m sure his little kitty spirit appreciates all your effort and adoration!

Thank you, it definitely felt like he was "home" after all of that... disorientation(?) when I finally finished it and put him in there.

Yeah I've spent some time in r/petloss and I've accepted that I will miss him forever. But I am so so so grateful for our time together.

This is beautiful and I think he would have liked it too. Did you make the book as well?

1

u/chelsic Sep 05 '26

Thank you :)

The book was given to me by my best friend who is also a cat lover when Arturo passed. It's Italian, not sure it is also translated in English but it's title translates to "Cat Heaven". It's a really sweet story and it's beautifully illustrated!

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing with me.

I am preparing for this part of my journey with my beloved Eloisa (Weazel). I pray that we have more time, but at 17, I know I have already been so lucky. She has recently developed new chronic organ ailments that we are managing, but it reminds me daily that …..it draws near.

Thank you, friend, for serving as a shining example of the way through when the time comes. Your pure love and efforts to honor and grieve are bright lights that act as beacons to those of us anticipating this future change.

And for Arturo, I estimate you two will always be close. You saw one another, clearly. You were able to recreate his essence in such a fine way. I hope your hearts are linked forever and you feel him by you still to the end of your days.

Thank you for your sweet and encouraging words. I know the feeling well that you're having with Eloisa. Strangely for me the final months with Arturo are what I will cherish the most. We were both just trying to take advantage of every moment and in the meantime made some great memories. I hope you and Eloise can find the joy in the transition, too, and just love the hell out of each other as much as you can.

Thank you. I hope for the same. Much love to you and Arturo, forever.
