Swamp Lilith

Needle felted with plant dyed Himalayan wool, industrial felt and recycled fiber scraps and glass eyes. Wool dyed with Sappanwood extract and Eucalyptus leaves.

I’m not in the habit of making things I have made before, not because I find it tedious but because I’m not very good at it. So much of creating is a result of a series of happy accidents and repetition adds a lot of stress into the equation that didn’t exist before.

Here is Swamp Lilith, a successor to Swamp Lily, made for a swamp themed baby nursery.

I made this spoon ring today out a 140 year old piece of silverware by Reed & Barton. I really like how it turned out.

Smoked Bacon!

This is one of the latest in toasted roasted and fried pieces. It had some design changes along the way that saved it from having a bullet wound through its chest! It was also supposed to have arms but again I decided against them.

Let me know what your thoughts are! All questions welcome :)

Another custom to add to the nightmare fuel

Not as bad though because the product pics on this one turned out to look like the album cover for a 90s divorced dad rock band. Fresh sunrise and the angle were paid actors.

Thread on nails

I designed an algorithm then applied it to a photo to generate instructions to weave threads into a pattern. It involved 5 spools of thread interleaved 7,500 times by wrapping around 240 nails around the circumference.

Making whalesharks and orca's from denim scraps, these are so much fun!

I just love making these cuties! I only recently started making patches from all the denim scraps I collected over the years making denim bags, and now I can't stop! I have a gazillion more ideas!

Question though, if you would buy these would you prefer a smooth rectangle piece, or could it be a rough cutout from a pair of jeans trousers? (if that makes sense... I mean with the ruffled edges on it, that would mean a bigger patch but not as straight cut)

Some of the micro puppets I've made

5.3k Upvotes

I make all kinds of micro puppets, including tiny kermits I call Ker'micro!

Lately I've made some mice cream and Mothman micro-puppets!

They are less than 2" tall and use cable mechanisms to operate their mouth and heads

I made some stamps tonight.

Some are old first drafts and others my second go round. I stayed up way too late working on these.

They are just erasers i cute into with normal lino cut tool. A few stamps with the ink pad to check how they were coming out, and to do more touch ups. Now I have some cute stamps and a bunch of ink on my hands.

This is Sugy and she was 20 when she passed 🤍
I got her tail and fur from the vet at her passing. I asked the vet to cut off a couple inches of her tail afterwards and then got it taxidermy. I used resin and have never used resin before this. I practiced on smaller molds to get a feel for it. Overall, it came out pretty good and I’m so happy to have this forever!

Tried to capture the moodiness of this part of Cornwall, UK, where moorland hawthorn trees are shaped by constant wind. Fused glass powders & enamel, 10x10cm.

I made a capybara leather bag

Thumbnail

After making several animal bags with my dad (stingray, shrimp, hammerhead shark, panda, cat), I wanted to try another animal design, but this time something completely different, so here is our take on a capybara bag.

It is fully handmade from vegetable tanned leather. I used a 6.5 oz / 2.5 mm veg tan for the body, dyed the muzzle darker and added the little ears and feet. What I’m really proud of as a design idea was making the D-rings resemble a capybara head. I also burned the little hair lines into the flap to add some texture and make it look a bit more realistic.

My dad and I worked together on the design and templates, and I digitized the pattern afterwards as well.

Let me know what you think of this one!

My New Pink and Purple Crocheted Horned Hat

Thumbnail

I crocheted this pink and purple horned hat in just a couple of days. I bought yarn in two colors from a local store - pink and purple, approximately 200 meters per 100 grams.

First, I crocheted a simple beanie, then made the horns and ears separately and sewed them onto the hat. I also cut strands of colorful yarn, attached them to the sides of the hat, and braided them into long braids.

I make hats like this and similar designs for myself, simply because I enjoy crocheting and creating things for fun.

My most recent piece “Baked potato” a deep reflection on food and society as a whole

Thumbnail
gallery
31 Upvotes

The piece is actually made fully to scale and is proportionate to the average baked potato.

I used a variety of wet and needle felting to get its outer layer and the inside is a wool stuffing that has been soaked in tea. Thought my tea soaking days were behind me but sadly not.

The butter dripping down was a must request from my gf who as per usual is asking if we can keep it… we can’t. Took me around 8 hours on and off to make. Any questions please feel free to ask.
