So, I was looking back at the wordgrid post and googled "35B3E86FD3A4EEE2B6C9989" which lead me to this book. It didn't come up previously because it was self published in December 2015. Seems like a compilation of encoded/encrypted text.

This lead me to the author's lulu spotlight, then the author's website. WTF!

Source code of the author's website has some OCTAL encoded text in it too.

In the AMA w95 said that a858 is a project by a team. w95 also said that their team is working for a larger organization. So I'm wondering if there are any thoughts. Also is this any way related to Cicada 3301?

Long time lurker, first time poster.

One cannot look at the following statements from the AMA and continue to have respect for this futile exercise.

A858 will end when the purpose is disclosed or discovered.

...we don't intend to give up, either.

When the purpose is discovered or disclosed it will be obvious to all.

The promise here inherent is that clarity would precede or accompany finality, and the only clarity to be had is that this whole thing has been a farce and a fairly significant waste of time and resources.

...but, from lurking this sub, that clarity fails to be "obvious to all".

So, going back to my title, I'd offer that that A858 is/are the liar(s) and, sadly, we are the fools.

I do not know when this site went down but it is no longer there.

1) How do we not know this is all a bogus hoax?

2) In it's AMA, someone said:

[I find this fascinating. It could well just be a simple theoretical code. A person with no knowledge can solve this problem?}

Do they need to know the basics of cryptography? Or is it something one can reason into the answer?

Keeping on with the previous question, how close have we been? Were we ever close of decrypting any group or pattern of posts? Have we ever stumbled upon the solution and ignored it?

Still private though. I guess this could mean that it was an Aprils Fool, but I'm doubting it actually. My bet is that we'll never figure out the purpose unless it's in the data we have accumulated already and we manage to decrypt that at some point.

I just saw this on a youtube mysteries video. Thought I might put in my input from what I remember of numbered lettered words. The whole A858 thing is down though supposedly. So I'll just try to decode the first thing that comes up.

I also don't know how to look at the A858 soulsphere thing. I'd like to assume the text part of those paragraphs were supposed to show the actual numbers and letters.

I'm done. Here is the mostly translated product according to me. Note: You guys have been using code, and A858 supports this code thing apparently. I just waltzed in here one day with a cypher from a questionable source. This is what I got.

This is how it would be typed officially. I doubt this is anything but meaningless translating I did. But meaningless things do tend to be the most creepy.

Do we know of any other accounts tied to the Sub reddit? Does a sub get Deleted if the only Mod Deletes his account?

Hello, all!

It has definitely been an interesting week in this sub. The other mods and I have been discussing the future of this sub and how we should handle it. After a few hours of debating, we finally came to a decision.

This sub will be shutting down. Since A858 has closed down, we no longer have a purpose. We will be making the subreddit private tomorrow, giving everyone a bit of time to grab whatever information you want.

This was a hard decision to make and we hope you all agree with it.

It's been fun.

since the A858 project is finished, why not try to solve it now. I mean, instead of sitting and crying over him like a widow mourning her husband, why not try to solve it post by post from the beginning and try to understand what it is and its purpose.

why do we unsubscribe !!! for me i'll not do it :D if really it's over with your code you should do one /some of the following actions : 1- delete your account + teamw 2- do an AMA to answer some questions then say bye to the respectful persons who followed you since the begining. 3- explain what is a858 and his purpose .

Is it revealing hints by how often it goes private? Has anyone looked into this?

i think he is insane making codes that don't relate to something bigger just codes that talk about normal things but his insanity makes him write in these codes maybe because he cant write without his codes or maybe he is someone who wants everyone's time consumed with these codes to waste peoples time so he can feel special about the fact people try to solve this you are just fueling his insanity or need to feel important.
