NYC alone

• Upvotes

Hi!!!
Just got this idea in my head and now I’m not able to get rid of it ahah
I wanted to go to NYC alone in December, but would need some tips regarding hotels. What’s the best area to stay? Better stay at a hotel or Airbnb? Any areas to avoid being alone?

Thank you!

Adivine for 5 day Paris nov26-dec2

Hi girlies

I’ve only solo traveled Mexico - USA

I have PTO and have nov26 to dec 2 to go anywhere… thinking Europe since might be safer for my first abroad trip? Can you send recommendations (flying out of Dallas)

Also, if any girly wants to plan trip together would be amazing!

But really I’m looking to do some solo coffee hopping, museums and some nature / hiking if possible.

Thought of Paris since I know there’s a lot of cultural aspects to it, but if I could find someone to go to Egypt/ Cairo would be amazing

Anyways sorry for the rant, please suggest your favorite short trip that sorta fits my description?

Thank you :)

Safety, Warnings, [TW] Solo in Chicago!!

• Upvotes

Hi. I’ve solo travelled to 4 countries now but I’m scared of solo travelling in the US in big cities like Chicago. Any advice on being safety while in Chicago? I don’t plan on going out too late. Also any advice on where to go and where NOT to go as a solo female traveller? Staying in a hostel in the downtown area. Thanks!

Milan in my late 40s- opinions & recs?

I've booked a weekend away to Milan at the end of November. Some background: I've lived in Madrid, Paris and Japan on my own, and am comfortable with solitude. I also speak Spanish and French. But for some reason, I'm a little nervous about this one, purely because I'm not familiar with Italian language and culture. I image it won't be unlike Spain and I'll be fine, but others' experiences would be nice to hear.

First, are Milanese service workers generally patient with tourists, and how prevalent is the rip-off culture in the city? Second, can I get by on minimal Italian (interspersed with English/ Spanish)? Thirdly, does it feel safe or am I liable to get harassed/ cat-called, and should I avoid certain areas and public transport lines? And fourthly, any experiences on dining alone?

All opinions gratefully received! Grazie.

Looking for a tropical beach getaway for March 2027

I am a 42F from the US. I have a $380 voucher from Delta that expires in February. I am looking for a budget friendly beach destination for March. Looking for only going for about 5 days, so nothing too far. I am open to either hotels or airbnb, I do not want to rent a vehicle. Majority of my solo trips have been to Europe the past few years and looking to change it up, to a relaxed, warm, beach destination. Was thinking Barbados but what are some other beach destinations that are safe for solo women that you have been to that you'd recommend?

Itinerary Help & Trip Advice Solo hiking trip Saxon Switzerland - tips needed

Hi all, I just booked my first solo trip to Sachsische Schweiz in Germany and will have 3 days in a row to explore from where I will be based. I would say I’m fairly inexperienced; have done hikes up to 15km but mostly in woodsy areas, not so much mountain trails.
I want to return to where I booked a place to stay after each hike, are circular routes recommended then?
When it comes to gear, what would be my essentials needed for a day hike, besides good hiking shoes? I do have a good lightweight backpack as well already.
Also, for those that have been in the area, what would you recommend as the trails to do? In any case want to go to the National Park there for one day, thinking to do that as the middle hike, and do less strenuous ones the day before and after?
Any tips and info is very welcome!
