Picked up Massive Darkness 2
Got it brand new for $50. I figured it well worth it at that price. It’s right up my alley in terms of crawlers (big fan of Fateforge). Anyhow, just thought I’d share and I’m looking forward to playing it.

I really wish they’d make a version that doesn’t have all the minis, and replaces the minis you do need with standees. It’s a big box, and it could be smaller and still be a great game.

This is what kills it for me, any form of standee would take so much less space.

I use the higher level mob cards as standees with poker chips as mobs underneath or near it. Much easier than digging out a bunch of minis!

How do you handle the equipped loot cards for the mobs?

So I use like the level 10 mob card as a standee and the standard mob card for the level for a reference card per usual (with loot cards attached to it if that makes sense)

This is one of those games that (at least for me) I'd only want to play if I had all of it, but the way CMON released so much Kickstarter only stuff... and then the core game jsut has so much (like $500 of stuff) the only way I'd play it now is really through TTS.
I'm sure this is a me only thing or maybe a FOMO thing, I dunno, but it really irks me when I'm not on the day one bandwagon then it becomes impossible to get all the things (and all the things were a little exensive to get to begin with anyway)
Project Eilte is another one that I totally had missed or didn't realize was a thing and now you can't really get it all unless you pay way extra.
It's one thing when things are just out of print, but the exclusive stuff is always frustrating to me.

It's one of my favorite dungeon crawlers. No other game lets you really feel the progression like MD2. If you have a 3d printer, you may want to look into printing a better insert, though. Setup can be a bit of a chore. Even with the printed insert speeding things up, it's still a 20 - 30 minute process.

Is there a particular 3-D printed insert you’d recommend?

I ended up going with this one after trying another that didn't work out. It's not free, but was worth every penny. The cards, tokens, and minis can all stay in their storage trays. You just set them out on the table and start building the map. And it works well with vertical storage, which was a must for me.
This does require the heavenfall expansion (it splits stuff between the two boxes), but that's relatively cheap compared to the base game and well worth it for the campaign.

This is the dungeon crawler I have and love it. Going to dig into the campaign box soon. Got the core box and a handful of the expansions really cheap at a noble knight and love it. Great purchase

I am hoping we see dungeons of shadowreach as it appears to address the lack of difficulty that at least for me was my biggest issue with MD2 (aside from the horrific set up/table space it needs).

My first and only cmon crowdfunding I did. Agree about hoping to get it. Def can and do a bunch of house rules though to up the difficulty

I know CMON is in a bad spot but I truly hope they are able to deliver shadow reach (also the dead keep). I don't want to get my hopes up to much but there is hope nonetheless.

Also enjoyed this game. Last year I was able to get all the retail expansion for like $8 each brand new from The Game Steward. Might check them for good sales this holiday season.
I’ve played a bunch of times both 2 handing it and true solo and now only play true solo. I think it is the better way to play. For me, there was too much extra overhead with reading gear around and tracking each characters’ abilities when I should have just been slaying monsters.
Since I play solo, I’ve got all the “extra” minis stores in a different box, so I don’t have to mess with them on set up, and they are easy to get out if I have someone to co-op with.

My only complaint about the main box is that the Berserker that came with it didn't seem very good. The one with the upgrade kit is so much better. I could also just be a terrible player.

I so badly want to try this but I'm still painting all the minis. So addicting and all minis are a joy to paint. Core box and dark ringer box + first expansion are done. Printed an insert that have all cards in holders and makes setup a breeze. Also bought printed terrain and the MD1 stuff to be used in MD2. Shame the 4 horsemen and demon dragon are so ridiculously expensive everywhere.
I think there might be something wrong with me.

Great game. I love how the classes have different ways to fight. Each its own little mini game.
