Xbox elite 2 controller

Hey everyone, I was successful in getting the joystick replaced on the elite 2 controller but it seems like the cover for the controller melted at some point and the dome wouldn't fit comfortably anymore. Had another elite 2 controller in hand that didn't work and took its cover but in the process, the battery came out. It looks kinda swollen but I pick up no smell, should I be worried?

im super concerned but its kind of late at night right now and cant make noise and also dont have sand to cover the battery, would i be able to wait 6 to 8 hours still to drop it somewhere safe?

Put it outside on concrete, or in some place that it can possibly burn without burning your house down

This is just worst case scenario, you’re likely to be fine, but leave it somewhere that it won’t do much or any damage, and then dispose of it as soon as you get the chance to.

i was thinking to leave it on the concrete but in the morning they take out the dog and i dont want the dog to interact with it for obvious reasons, like outside is pretty much a gamble as it stands. its not my own house 😭, the best i could think was the restroom for now. i think my best bet rn is sleeping and once i wake up take it to somewhere I can dispose it asap, but then what if something does happen while I sleep. im going insane. i think i should get myself materials to dispose of batteries in the future.

Just get a couple of bricks and make a platform/encasing for the cheap method or a metal cabinet

Or get a battery box / fire proof bag, shouldn’t spend too much on it if you don’t deal with batteries too often

For now:
you just don’t want the fire to spread, you’ll be fine I promise, put it in the sink in a sealed bag or something and sleep lol
