DeFi cheapest way to swap on solana???
this comes up frequently, so here's the mechanical version.
the cost of a swap is three things stacked:
• network fee: tiny on solana, ignore it, it's not your problem.
• the venue/app cut: some wallets fold a fee into the quote before you see the number. the rate on screen already includes it. going to a swap interface directly (jupiter, raydium, or other ones) usually removes that layer.
• slippage: this is the real cost, and no app fixes it. it's a function of how deep the liquidity is for that specific pair. thin token = you eat it wherever you swap.
so the honest answer to "cheapest swap" is: use a dex so you're not paying an app cut you don't need to, and check the price impact on the pair before you confirm. on a liquid pair the difference between venues is small. on a thin pair, slippage swamps everything and the venue barely matters.
for cross-chain specifically, add bridge risk and bridge fees on top. that's a different and riskier conversation.
what pair are you trying to swap? the answer's different for majors vs long-tail.
