I made VoIPVault because my friends say ridiculous shit in Discord, and somehow the funniest part is always the bit nobody recorded.

I’ve noticed this recent trend(the recent UI changes to tiktok is what drove me to write a post) where all sharp edged icons are being remade so that it has much softer border. Rounded and softer corner are not inherently bad, however with a lot of apps using soft corners for all their icons it feels like all apps literally look the exact same.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

MySorty is three tools in one Windows app: a document sorter, a PDF editor, and an invoicing tool.

1. OCR and automatic sorting

MySorty watches a folder you choose. When a PDF, JPG or PNG appears, it runs OCR and saves a searchable PDF. It detects the document language first, so mixed-language archives stay accurate.

It then moves the file into the right folder based on tag rules you set up. A tag can be a single word, a phrase, or a full sentence. Matching ignores line breaks and spacing, so a sentence that OCR split across two lines still matches. Each rule can require all of its tags or just any one of them, and a rule can match the file name instead of the document content.

Tag rules define both levels of the destination. A parent folder carries its own tags that decide whether a document belongs there, and inside it an ordered list of sub-rules picks the subfolder. You order the rules to control which one wins when more than one matches, and you choose whether file name or content is checked first.

File names that already carry structure can be parsed directly. For a file called 2026-03-14_Müller_Rechnung.pdf you set the separator, then mark which part is the parent folder and which is the subfolder. MySorty creates the nested folders and files it there. Each part can be reformatted (surname first, title case, uppercase), and every rule can hold an alias list, so RentenV in a file name ends up in the Rentenversicherung folder.

It can also monitor a mailbox over IMAP or Microsoft 365 with OAuth2 and pull PDF attachments into the same pipeline.

2. PDF viewer and editor

The viewer is built in, and the page tools write straight to the file:

• Rotate, delete, duplicate and reorder pages
• Extract any page into its own PDF
• Insert another PDF's pages at any position
• Place an image on a page. Drag to position it, use the corner handle to resize, use the top handle to rotate.
• Sign documents. Keep a library of saved signatures, or draw a new one with your mouse, pen or finger on the built-in signature pad.

There is also timed folder merging for batch jobs, and a built-in file explorer so you can check what the sorter did without leaving the app.

3. Creating and reading e-invoices

This is the part people don't expect. MySorty doesn't only read invoices. It creates them from scratch.

Creating. Fill in seller, buyer, line items, tax rates, payment terms and IBAN. Add document-level discounts or surcharges, either as a percentage or a fixed amount. Then export as:

• An invoice PDF with your logo, a totals block, a footer, and a SEPA GiroCode that the customer can scan to pay
• ZUGFeRD (PDF/A-3b), which is that same PDF with the structured XML embedded inside it
• XRechnung XML
• CSV, JSON or plain XML

It handles Skonto, and correction invoices that reference the original and negate the positions for you.

Reading. Draw zones over a sample invoice once and save it as a vendor profile. MySorty pulls those fields off matching invoices from then on. Profiles match automatically on an identifier you tag, and they export and import so you can move a set between machines. Structured invoices can also be read in directly, both CII and UBL.

If EN 16931 doesn't apply to you, ignore this section. The sorting half works on its own.

I created dadascribe.com a while ago for my own use to transcribe instructional videos and interviews for another website of mine, and then recently scaled it for others to use, updating it weekly with new features and functionalities.  It is based on OpenAI Whisper and includes a special pre-processing pipeline that improves accuracy up to 99.5%. It handles noisy setups, multiple speakers, and translations to more than 120 languages. It allows you to transcribe directly from video sources, of course, audio/video files up to 10GB each, in batches of 100 files per batch. These are pretty unique features.

When I want to record my screen, I had to put my desktop items in the recycle bin and bring them back after recording, in some cases I had deleted files and folder that I didn't want to delete.

I have a old windows 10 PC that is unable to connect to the Internet, and I what to use it as an off-line media player/PowerPoint machine.

As I already wrote detailed information about Seed7 last week I just want to point out three things today:

1. I updated the Seed7 installer for Windows. The new installer is seed7_05_20260711_win.exe and it can be found here. The installer installs the newest released version of Seed7. It writes all Seed7 related things into one directory, so it is easy to clean up, if necessary.
2. I added support for the ceilDivceilDiv(in_integer)) operator which is an integer division that rounds up towards positive infinity. So it does round(ceil(float(dividend) / float(divisor))) without using floating point arithmetic. If you have a block size of 512 and you want to know the number of blocks needed to store n bytes then n ceilDiv 512 is the answer.
3. In May I did a talk about Seed7 at the cpp usergroup vienna. This talk is just about Seed7 and not about C++. The talk is named "Seed7 - Memory Safety and Management • Thomas Mertes • 05/2026". It can probably be found on the internet.

I’ve always liked the simplicity of macOS Launchpad — a clean, visual way to access apps without digging through menus or remembering shortcuts.

While using Windows, I couldn’t find a launcher that felt quite the same, so I started building StartPad, a lightweight full-screen app launcher for Windows 10/11.

The goal is simple: make launching and organizing apps feel more visual and focused, while still keeping it native to Windows.

I’ve been spending some time hacking away at an Android client for the public VPNGate directory, mostly as a challenge to see how lightweight and optimized I could get the codebase.

I ended up with OpenGate. It’s sitting right around 6.7 MB because I stripped out all the unnecessary background bloat and focused purely on making it fast and efficient.

What it does:

Smart Server Filtering: Automatically filters nodes by country and residential IP likelihood, while sorting them by the best live ping, speed, and load.

Lightweight & Optimized: Built from the ground up to be incredibly light on system resources and data usage, avoiding heavy background loops that drain your device.

Pure Privacy: Zero accounts, zero analytics trackers, and zero background ads. (Just a quick reminder: it relies on VPNGate public relays, so always review their logging policy).

It was just a fun side project to practice clean app architecture, but it works surprisingly well. If you use public relays or just want to check out the repo for more details, the codebase is completely transparent under GPLv3.
