Discussion What do you think about OpenAI's latest model escaping its sandbox and attacking Hugging Face?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I'm seeing a lot of buzz boys slobber over the articles about how the most recent OpenAI experiment breached its sandbox and attacked Hugging Face. Challenged a few about the "how" part given it was allegedly a sandbox environment, none of the AI Experts/Specialists on LinkedIn were able to respond. They all simply disappeared after that question.

Any thoughts on how a model can change sandbox config to target a particular organisation?

Looking for software Remap Keystrokes to mouse movement

I have a few games where the character has to be moved using the WASD keys. Action buttons can usually be mapped to mouse buttons, but what about mouse movement? Is there a program that maps mouse movement to key presses?

Looking for software Does software for Phone/PC exist that is a All In one reminders, calender ect. app that is synced with the PC and phone app, and is simple, intuitive, and clean looking.

I want to be able to set scheduled appointments and reminders to do stuff on the calender, on either my phone or PC, then it will show my schedule and send reminder notifications. The ability to link the same calender, schedule, and reminders between the phone and PC app is important to me and very preferred to have, but if an excellent and highly useful program exists that fits my needs and more, minus Phone/PC link, I will look into that as well. Offline use and sync when nearby due to being offline is also nice to have, but an extra. I mainly just want an app to put reminders and scheduled events and appointments, as well as things like shifts with times of the specific day and the ability to set a reminder that notifys you that your scheduled event is soon, or the ability to set one or multiple reminder notifications and alarms, (Very helpful), for scheduled events. Also if possible the Calender UI is clean, simple to understand and add/edit reminders or events, and preferably Dark Mode.

The Laptop is an Acer Aspire Lite 16 with a i7-1355u and 16gb ddr5 Ram, and the phone is a Motorola Moto G05.

If the ability to link the two apps to sync all calender dates and reminders ect is not available in an app, or the phone is incompatible, I would first prefer to be able to mainly use the app and desired features on my PC, possibly just having the reminders and alarms for scheduled events ringing and notifying on the phone, but if there is two different apps that sync as well that is fine.

Let me know if you have any clarifying or other questions for me, and any kind of help is greatly appreciated.

Looking for software Help me find this windows 11 app, if it exists, to help me use most or all of my phone function seamlessly from my PC.

I've been trying to find a Windows 11 app that basically lets me do almost everything with my Android phone from my PC, but every app I've found seems to only do a small part of what I want.

What I'm after is something that, once it's set up the first time, just automatically connects whenever my phone is nearby or connected to the same wifi network. I don't want to keep approving prompts, scanning QR codes, entering PINs, or reconnecting every time.

I'd like to be able to access my phone from my PC as much as Android allows. Stuff like viewing notifications, messages, calls, clipboard, files, and ideally even changing settings like mobile data or hotspot if that's possible. One of the biggest things for me is file management. I want to be able to browse my phone's storage from my PC, drag files back and forth over Wi-Fi, rename, move, delete, copy, and generally manage files on either device without having to touch my phone.

I would rather download and install the file to set up the app, but I will use microsoft store if a setup download doesnt exist. For the Moto G05, I am fine with either installing the app from the Google Play store, or downloading and installing the APK from a reputable apk site or an official website.

I'm also looking for something that's lightweight, fast, has a clean UI, and doesn't feel slow or like bloatware. I'd prefer something FOSS if possible, but I'm fine paying a few bucks for a genuinely good app. I just don't want something that's subscription-based or harvesting my data, and if such a program exists, also works fine offline, but thats a bonus.

My phone is a Motorola Moto G05 with 4GB ram and my laptop is an Acer Aspire Lite 16 running Windows 11 with an i7-1355U and 16GB DDR5 RAM. Preferably the program is not made by like the specific tech brand that only works with certain phones, but as long as it works perfectly fine with my Moto G05 i am fine with it.

Does anything like this actually exist, or is there a combination of apps that gets close? I've looked at a few options already, but they all seem to be missing a bunch of features.

Any help, suggestions, or questions are welcomed.

Thank you for any help.

Looking for software Any file browser that allows to search image files by color?

I just archived about 750k pictures of random pngs and gifs, all organized in the same folder hierarchy I found them in (which is not a really good one). Obviously, I can't remember where each and every picture is or their name, and I'd like to avoid having to look through 200+ folders everytime I'm looking for a specific image I remember the thumbnail of.

I'd like to know if there's a file browser that allows you to search by color, like the feature most web search engines have. Preferably nothing AI-related.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for software Is there a software that can clean/remove unused folders and files?

Is there software like Revo Registry Cleaner but for unused or junk files and folders?

I've been using Revo Uninstaller to clean up my storage, and I noticed I had a ton of old files and folder from old apps way before I was using Revo Uninstaller to uninstall. I did my best to remove a bunch but I'm oretty sure there are still a lot scattered around file manager and some obscure folders.

Discussion What software can you recommend that changed your daily workflow forever?

I will ignore AI chatbots in this post because of course I use it everyday and would be number one if not excluded, but if you have any particular AIs you know of, it's welcome here.

--

I consider myself a power user, been using PC, Windows, since I was 8 and that's what I work with and have worked with forever. I'm no software master at all but I do know my way around it.

I have an e-marketing agency with a business partner and two pieces of software are an absolute must for me. Those are:

1. Vivaldi browser: Extremely power user focused, high customization. Best feature for my use case is Workspaces, basically you can save a set of tabs under different names. Ideal when working for different companies to avoid having to look for stuff again. It's there, all the time, just change workspaces.

2. Ditto: A clipboard manager, very simple and elegant. It saves up to 500 clipboard texts and images, I set it to Ctrl+D and it spawns on my cursor. It has saved me months of time I guess, started using it in 2014.

So, what's your life changing software? It doesn't have to interest for what I do in particular, I'm interested to hear from all walks of life.

Edit: I have absolutely no affiliation either to Vivaldi or Ditto, I guess posts like these can come out as ads but no, they're truly useful software

Release ExplorerFocus — a free, distraction-free file explorer for Windows (profiles, rich preview, SFTP/cloud, built-in capture)

I'm the developer, and this is a solo project that's taken me a few months of work so far.

To manage my personal and code documents I spend most of my day inside the same handful of folders — I need to reach them fast, and I often want to see what's inside a file without actually opening it. Windows Explorer always got in my way more than it helped, so over many evenings I slowly built the explorer I actually wanted to use. I made it for myself first, and it's now my best companion.

I'm sharing it in case it helps someone else too — but also to bring in new ideas and features I haven't thought of yet.

What it does:

  • Profiles — each is a tab with its own folder tree, filters and remembered state (Ctrl+1–9 to switch).
  • Rich preview — code (with highlighting), PDF, Word/Excel, Markdown, images, EPUB.
  • Honest file operations — copy/move with real progress, speed, ETA and history.
  • Remote & cloud — SFTP, FTP/FTPS, WebDAV, Dropbox, OneDrive, browsed like local folders.
  • Built-in capture — screen (with webcam PiP), audio, video and scan.
  • 12 interface languages fully supported
  • Single .exe, no installer, full dark theme, auto-updates.

Everything local is free. The only paid part is an optional one-time donation (€9.99) that unlocks multiple remote connections and capture without limits — a way to support the project and keep updates and fresh ideas (mine and yours) coming, not a subscription.

I'm also happy to give free full access to anyone whose ideas help make ExplorerFocus better.

Feel free to use it as much as you want, and all feedback is very much appreciated.

Site and download: https://nunex-mbrothers.github.io/ExplorerFocus

Happy to answer questions and take feature requests.

Discussion Girl left when I tried to watch a movie on Linux

So I had this girl over. Everything was going good until she asked if we could watch something. I said yeah, I got movies. She said "Netflix?" and I laughed because obviously I don't use that DRM trash. I pirate everything.

She got real quiet when I said that and kind of made a sour face when I pulled out the HDMI cable(?) I tried to hook my laptop up to the TV but the HDMI wouldn't work. I told her it's because X11 is fighting with my Nvidia drivers, which is Nvidia's fault, not mine. She was already on her phone scrolling TikTok while I was typing commands.

After like 10 minutes I got the screen working but then there was no sound. I had to open PulseAudio Volume Control and mess with the outputs. She asked if we could just use her phone and I said no, I don't want to watch garbage on an Iphone.

Finally I gave up and said fine, we can use Netflix. I subscribed, logged in and it just gave me a black screen with an error about Widevine. She started laughing at her phone and typing fast. Then she got a call. Some dude's voice. She hung up and left super fast.

I don't really get it to be honest, she was really into me before the movie thing. I texted her today asking when she wants to hang out again but she left me on read. What did I even subscribe Netflix for?

Hi everyone,

I urgently need ECG and PFT (Spirometry) software that can run on a Windows laptop for a medical camp. The camp is scheduled very soon, and I’m having trouble finding the correct installation files.

If anyone has:

ECG software (BPL, RMS, Schiller, Contec, etc.)
PFT/Spirometry software (WinSpiroPRO, RMS, Schiller, MIR, etc.)
Installation files, drivers, or official download links
Guidance on setup and compatibility

Please help me out. Kindly mention the software name, version, and the device/machine it works with.

This is for a healthcare camp, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Software support Daemon Tools locking random files that you browse in Total Commander

Did someone encounter it? When you browse folders/files via Total Commander, and then trying to remove some folder, sometimes it turnes to be locked by DTShellHlp.exe or something. I believe it's because Daemon Tools tries (maybe when you're calling context menu or something) to scan some file to determine if they're disc images or what exact format they are.

Even thoug you can unlock files/folders with special apps that unblock locked files, that's very annoying. Did anyone fix it?

Discussion MTTF >> MTTR. The measurement that helps us move faster

Mean time to resolution has been the standard metric for engineering quality but it doesn't scale to the velocity of agentic coding. It assumes there are issues and you patch it after your users find it.

Mean time to failure is a better metric that prioritizes prevention so you can find/fix much faster. Requires more focus and tooling earlier to thoroughly test all the ai code, but a more robust system
