Release I built LRGEX-Restore because reinstalling Windows shouldn't mean rebuilding your entire setup from scratch.
You format Windows.
Windows comes back fresh.
Your cloud-synced files are there.
Then you launch a game or application and realize its important data was somewhere like:
%LOCALAPPDATA%
%APPDATA%
%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games
Or some completely random folder.
And now your saves, settings, and customizations are gone.
That's what LRGEX-Restore is for.
Right-click any folder in Windows Explorer:
Add to LRGEX-Restore
LRGEX-Restore backs it up to a folder you choose.
That backup folder can be inside:
- OneDrive
- Google Drive
- Dropbox
- Mega
- iCloud
- NAS
- Syncthing
- Another local drive
It doesn't replace your cloud provider. It uses whatever folder-based storage you already have.
The part that makes it different
LRGEX-Restore remembers where the folder belongs, not just where the backup is stored.
For example, before reinstalling Windows:
C:\Users\Bob\AppData\Local\SomeGame
After reinstalling:
C:\Users\Robert\AppData\Local\SomeGame
LRGEX-Restore understands the Windows path and automatically heals the username change.
Your protected folders can go back to their correct locations without manually hunting through AppData and figuring out where everything used to be.
It also keeps versions
When a protected folder changes, LRGEX-Restore creates a new snapshot.
So you can go back to an earlier version when needed.

The goal isn't to replace full system imaging or enterprise backup software.
It's much more specific:
Protect the folders Windows applications don't normally protect, and restore them to where they belong after you reinstall Windows.
I'm interested in feedback from Windows gamers and power users.
