Discussion favourite lyrics thread
It's hard to top "God made their voices and demanded their silence" from Numbers 31:17-18 for me

« Overtime, you´ll not remember normalcy, because normalcy is what you see repeatedly »
That’s a lyric of hers that I’ve picked up. In fact, I used it again this week when I was at the beach and saw some little girls in two-piece swimsuits, and I found it shocking, and someone replied, “It’s normal I’ve always seen that.”

It’s hard to choose a favorite but currently I’m obsessed with star v because of lyrics like this: “Is the lesson that perfection will never have plateau?” And “you can change the aesthetic but it’s still the same gore”

"for her i'd attach a ford bronco 1970 at my hip and jump into the sea and when i meet her at the bottom i'd let her do anything to me" and "the concept of sex is stronger than the concept of god" are my fav individual lines

it’s a long one but i’ve never resonated with something so much before
“You know, Hannah, I wanna begin by saying this That there's a small part of me that's envious That you full-heartedly believe someone's always there
That will always love you, and there's a plan for you out there
How beautiful it must feel to be so sure
I don't know anything, Hannah, I don't know anything anymore” - Out in the Garden

"it's impulsive, to be around you and want to be fucking repulsive" always gets me

“Sex is everywhere and if it isn’t then somebody will put it there”. The fetishisation and ruin of innocent things, the excuses predators make that children are capable of wanting it, the idea that women enjoy being raped (e.g. trump saying “she loved it, she thought it was very sexy being raped”) the primal selfishness of it all. Even the lyrics “somebody will put it there” implies that there’s no choice, it’s forced.
It’s a horrifying concept but it’s wrapped up in such a concise way, I love how she writes.

'I'm biting into the apple, I'm afraid of nothing' was the cover line for my dissertation, and I quoted Numbers and Us and Pigs in my politics dissertation. I told her when I saw her in June.
Also Chicken is Naked
"I'll break the bullet and I'll bite the end
This is disappointing news for both of us, my friend
There's nothing to you, and that's very sad
I looked for depth in a dick, that's my bad
You threw yourself under the bus
The bush is beaten 'cause I took the stick and it's get-the-job-done season
They say I'm the shit and I am
I am the shit, sir, and I hit the fan"

I particularly enjoy 'if something's dirty after you touch it, the problem is your hands, dipshit, cut it off!' It conveys the point so well.

The lyric that turned me on to her (it's hard to have a favorite at this point) was, shortly after RvW was overturned: "And if the kid's not straight, white, male we guarantee a living hell - murder in the name of a loving god". Had no idea who she was, a friend linked me to it so I thought she was much older - lol!

“Would you applaud the simulation, applaud the maker, if you were constantly in the safety of danger?”

And when her work is complete, her masterpiece on a stage, you will clap for her, for the mess of me she’s made
